Trzcianka offers several distinct themes: Lake Sarcz, with a park dedicated to freshwater fish; regional history at the Muzeum Ziemi Nadnoteckiej; and a protected tree in the city center. You can choose your focus based on whether you are more interested in bodies of water and fishing, the region’s history, or a natural monument.
Lake Sarcz and the Fish Park
The Ryb Słodkowodnych Park is located by Lake Sarcz in Trzcianka, on provincial road 178 between Poznań and Kołobrzeg. Ten enormous freshwater fish models stand along walking and cycling paths. Additional information boards cover fish reproduction, fishing equipment and their nutritional value. The site combines vivid models with information about various aspects of fish and fishing.
The lake itself is within Trzcianka’s city limits. Facilities at Lake Sarcz include a beach and pier, as well as a sailing harbor and a water sports equipment rental service. This broadens the focus from the freshwater park to other connections with the lake. If you plan to use the beach, pier or rental service, check the current conditions or equipment availability before your visit.
The park and lake share the same theme but offer different emphases: the park focuses on fish models and factual information, while the beach, pier, sailing harbor and rental service are other facilities by the water. This makes it possible to experience the area through both its freshwater fish and the lake itself.
Regional History at the Museum
The Muzeum Ziemi Nadnoteckiej im. W. Stachowiaka is housed in a late-classical building dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Its permanent exhibition covers the history of Trzcianka and its surroundings. The museum also holds more than 25,000 exhibits related to the region. Its historical themes focus both on the town itself and the wider area around it.
The building and exhibition offer two different ways to explore the past: the architecture points to the period when it was built, at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, while the exhibition focuses on the history of Trzcianka and its surroundings. If culture and regional history are your focus, you will find both a historic building and a relevant collection and permanent exhibition here.
A Protected Tree in the City Center
A protected London plane, designated a natural monument, stands in the city center. It is 23 m tall and has a trunk circumference of 389 cm. Its height and trunk circumference provide two concrete measures of the tree; its protected status also makes it a distinct natural feature of Trzcianka.
The sites are easy to distinguish when choosing a focus: Lake Sarcz centers on the lake and fish, the museum explores the history of the town and its surroundings, and the London plane is a single protected natural monument. These differences can help you choose what to explore in Trzcianka based on your interests in water, cultural history or nature.
