The Vogelboulevard is designed specifically for meadow birds and recreation; Golfclub Hoogland Amersfoort offers a 9-hole course with A-status and an official 18-hole FootGolf course. Landgoed Coelhorst combines an orchard with the locally re-cultivated Coelhorsterappel, while Kapel Coelhorst has a clear historical development. There is also the four-day Dorpsfeest Hoogland in September. When looking for a hotel in Hoogland, it is worth deciding first what you want to focus on: nature, sport, local history or a stay around the festival.

Nature and landscape

The Vogelboulevard is in Hoogland and is part of Hoogland-West. It is part of the Dutch nature network Natuurnetwerk Nederland and was designed specifically for meadow birds and recreation.

Landgoed Coelhorst offers a different nature story. The orchard dates back to 1947; the younger trees bear the locally re-cultivated Coelhorsterappel apple. This connects the history of the orchard with the re-cultivation of a local apple variety and gives nature enthusiasts a tangible link to regional culture.

Travel arrangements should also be considered for Landgoed Coelhorst: there is no parking. Visitors are advised to travel by bicycle or public transport if possible. Keep this recommendation in mind when choosing your mode of transport if the estate is on your itinerary.

Golf and FootGolf

Golfclub Hoogland Amersfoort has a 9-hole course with A-status in the Hoogland countryside, as well as an official 18-hole FootGolf course. These details offer a concrete comparison of the facilities. The A-status applies to the golf course; the 18 holes refer to the FootGolf course. If sport is a focus of your trip, you can decide which offering is most relevant to your plans based on the different types of play.

Chapel, churches and local history

Kapel Coelhorst is a Catholic chapel dating from the 14th century, built for the residents of Hoogland. After Hoogland received a new village church, De Inham, in 1843, the chapel was sold to the residents of Landgoed Coelhorst and used as a family burial chapel. Its construction and later use thus mark two different chapters in its history: its original purpose for the residents of Hoogland and its later use by the residents of the estate.

The stained-glass windows in Sint Martinuskerk are spread across three areas: ten in the church nave, two behind the priest's choir and one in the Marian chapel. That makes 13 windows in total. The rectory of the R.K. St. Martinuskerk at Kerklaan 22 was probably built in 1888 to designs by P.J.H. Cuypers and A. Tepe.

A festival date in September

Dorpsfeest Hoogland is regularly held around the weekend of the third Saturday in September and lasts four days, from Thursday to Sunday. If you would like to plan your stay around the festival, check the exact dates for the year you have in mind.
