Badhoevedorp offers three distinct perspectives for planning a trip: Het Lint as a walking and cycling route, Park De Veldpost in the polder landscape, and tangible traces of local history. Boerderij Badhoevedorp and the Melkhuisje complement the landscape themes with named buildings. Before looking for a hotel, you can decide whether outdoor activities, landscape or cultural heritage should play a bigger role in your stay.

Het Lint as a linear route

Het Lint is a walking and cycling route on the site of the former A9 in Badhoevedorp. It runs for about four kilometres from west to east through the whole of Badhoevedorp; it is being developed in phases. Its clear east-west orientation distinguishes the route from individual cultural sites: it is a linear focus for trip planning in which walking or cycling plays a role. The former A9 provides the spatial context, while walking and cycling describe the type of route.

Park De Veldpost and the Groene AS

Park De Veldpost is a recreational area of about 20,000 square metres in Badhoevedorp. Its rolling hills, about four to five metres high, break up the straight, expansive polder landscape. Unlike the linear route Het Lint, the focus here is on the terrain: the hills create a different landscape feature within the broad polder setting. The park is also part of the Groene AS, a green connection between nature areas in Amstelland and Spaarnwoude. This shifts the perspective from an individual park to a regional landscape connection.

Polder lines in the village

The intersecting lines of Sloterweg and Kromme Tocht also continue to preserve Badhoevedorp’s original polder structure. The polder connection is therefore evident in two different ways: in the rolling hills of De Veldpost and in the preserved pattern formed by the two roads.

Farms and local history

Badhoevedorp takes its name from the model farm De Badhoeve, established by Jacob Paulus Amersfoordt in 1854. The name thus refers to a specific farm and a person from the village’s history. Boerderij Badhoevedorp is a municipal monument dating from 1860. Its front façade has three windows, each with six panes. The Melkhuisje at Toevluchtstraat 17 is a municipal monument dating from 1991 and a replica of De Badhoeve’s former churn house. A churn house was used to make butter; the replica therefore refers to a different type of building from the Boerderij. Local history is thus reflected in different ways: in the origin of the name, a specific façade detail, and a replica of a former agricultural building.

Bridges and landmarks

Two other local references answer different orientation questions. The Sloterbrug is a bridge over the Ringvaart and connects Badhoevedorp with Sloten. The 10-HOEVE point is on the cycle path along Nieuwemeerdijk, opposite the bridge over the Ringvaart to Langsom, at Nieuwemeerdijk 48 in Badhoevedorp. The Sloterbrug therefore identifies a connection between places; for the 10-HOEVE point, the cycle path, its position opposite the bridge and the house number help pinpoint its exact location.
