’t Loo can be explored through several themes: the Fietsroute rond Oldebroek starts on the edge of the Veluwe, the Natuurpad ’t Loo runs through the forest, and the Kunsthoeve complements nature experiences with art. When planning, it helps to distinguish between the different options: the cycling routes focus on different aspects of the landscape, churches and culinary stops; the walking trail offers a separate way to explore on foot.
Cycling among landscapes and local themes
The “Fietsroute rond Oldebroek” cycling route starts in ’t Loo on the edge of the Veluwe. It heads towards the Drontermeer and then follows the Veluwemeer. Along the route, the landscape changes from pastureland to forest and heath, and then to country estates and villages. This tour therefore focuses on a variety of landscapes.
The Smultoer combines cycling with tasting: cyclists can stop at five of the seven participating businesses and enjoy a treat. The route follows the cycling junction network wherever possible; where junctions are not available, use the route description in the app. If you’re looking to stop for a treat during your ride, you can follow the Smultoer; if you’re mainly after a variety of landscapes, the Fietsroute rond Oldebroek offers that focus.
The “Van Kerkdorp tot Dorpskerk” cycling route passes through ’t Loo and focuses on churches. At each church entrance along the route, there is a purple sticker with a QR code; the codes link to information, photos and videos about the respective church. If you’d like to focus on the churches along the way during a cycling tour, this route offers a different thematic approach from a ride that focuses mainly on landscapes.
On foot and with an eye for art
The Natuurpad ’t Loo is a 1.6-kilometre walking trail through the forest. If you’d like to explore the area on foot, this is a compact, clearly defined route option.
The Kunsthoeve is located in the Landgoed ’t Loo holiday park and is a gallery where artists exhibit their work. Its workshop programme complements the exhibited works with hands-on topics: photography, handicrafts, painting abstract portraits with acrylics, and pastel drawing. The workshops are aimed at adults; adults from outside the park are also welcome. Check in advance for current dates and whether you can take part, as specific workshop plans may change.
Car-free policy at Landal Landgoed ’t Loo
The park’s rules are important when travelling to Landal Landgoed ’t Loo. The grounds are car-free except for the area marked in orange. You may use your car there on arrival and departure only to load and unload your luggage; the car can be parked in the central car park in between. Check the rules before travelling, as parking arrangements may change.
