Krašići is a coastal village in the Krtoli coastal area of the wider Tivat destination. The Krtoli shoreline is characterized by rocky beaches and concrete piers. Two churches give the village distinct historical points of reference: St. Nicholas stands above Gornji Krašići, while the Church of the Martyrs of Bokel is on the coast of Donji Krašići.

Coastal character and local history

The combination of rocky beaches and concrete piers describes the shoreline more specifically than a general reference to its coastal location. Natural rocky stretches and constructed waterfront edges both contribute to the character of the Krtoli coastal area. This gives you a clear landscape focus when choosing where to stay; the churches add a historical dimension and distinct points of reference.

Two churches in different locations

The Church of St. Nicholas stands above Gornji Krašići, next to the former road that connected Krtole with Luštica. It dates from the 18th century and is dedicated to the patron saint of travelers and fishermen. Its location and dedication give the building two distinct points of reference: the area's former connection and the people who traveled or worked on the water.

The Church of the Martyrs of Bokel stands on the coast of Donji Krašići. It was completed in 1897 and is dedicated to the early Christian martyrs Peter, Andrija, and Lovrijenac. The two churches differ in both location—above Gornji Krašići and on the coast of Donji Krašići, respectively—and their documented dates and dedications. Those interested in local history will find two distinct points of connection within Krašići.

Nature highlights in the wider Tivat destination

The wider Tivat destination also includes a city park and a wetland as part of its landscape. Tivat City Park has been a protected natural area since 1968 and was declared a natural monument in 2015. Visitors can walk among mature, partly exotic trees; some are up to 130 years old and reach heights of up to 25 meters.

The Solila Nature Reserve is a coastal wetland of about 150 hectares, opposite Tivat city center in the Bay of Krtole. Since 2013, it has been designated a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and is also an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA). Solila is also a candidate for Emerald Area status under the Bern Convention. The park and wetland therefore represent different nature highlights in the wider Tivat context.

Culture and events in Tivat

The Maritime Heritage Collection in Porto Montenegro is a museum about Tivat's maritime traditions and the Adriatic's nautical past. Also in Porto Montenegro, the Submarine Museum includes the P-821 Hero submarine, considered a former flagship of the Yugoslav Navy. In the medieval Buća complex, the “Ethnographic Heritage of Tivat” collection presents exhibitions on art, ethnology, archaeology, and documentary subjects.

Buća Luković dates from the 14th century and is considered the most monumental and best-preserved historic summer residence of its kind in Tivat. The fortified tower of Buća Luković is 15 meters high, dates from 1548, and is now used as an art gallery. The information about the complex, collection, and tower highlights distinct aspects: historic architecture, a range of exhibition themes, and the tower's current use.

Tivat also offers a seasonal cultural event: the PURGATORY Festival takes place in summer, from mid-June to the end of August; most performances are held on the summer stage at the Buća summer residence. Dates and venues may change in future editions. If the festival is important to your travel plans, check the program for the relevant edition.
