Evron has several distinct cultural themes: early settlement history, archaeological discoveries, the history of kibbutz security, and porcelain production at the Naaman factory. This selection is complemented by a vehicle tour to a power generation station and a cycling tour from Evron to Rosh HaNikra and back. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Evron, you can plan your stay around which of these themes you would like to focus on. Visiting conditions vary depending on the offering.

Museums with Different Focuses

The “Kibbutz Shel Pa’am” Museum is devoted to a diverse collection of objects from the early settlement period. The Archaeological Museum and Garden in Evron offer a different focus: they are associated with finds including traces of early settlement, tools and animal bones, as well as the tusk of a prehistoric elephant and an ancient mosaic floor. The two places therefore differ in their focus: one centers on objects from the early settlement period, while the other presents archaeological traces and individual finds. This distinction can help you choose if you would like a particular perspective on Evron’s history.

The Evron Pillbox Museum is about guarding and security. The museum includes a guard post, a searchlight, weapons and communications equipment used by the kibbutz’s night watchmen and security personnel. The Naaman Factory Museum, by contrast, is devoted to porcelain tools and products, as well as exhibits and objects made at the Naaman factory. Evron thus brings together a security-history collection and an industrial collection. A visit to either of these museums can be included in the Evron Circuit by prior arrangement; make arrangements for your visit in advance.

Activities and Their Conditions

Country Gan Evron is a country club in Kibbutz Evron. People from outside the kibbutz can also become members. The “Green Electricity” tour begins with a meeting in Kibbutz Evron and continues from there by vehicle to a power generation station at a landfill. Participation in the tour must be arranged in advance. The cycling tour offers a different kind of outing: its route runs from Evron to Rosh HaNikra and back. The two activities therefore differ considerably: one travels by vehicle to a power generation station, while the other is a round-trip cycling tour. Check whether the cycling tour is currently offered before making plans.

Archaeological Perspectives in the Northern District

In the broader destination of the Northern District, Tel Hazor and Tel Megiddo represent distinct archaeological highlights. At Tel Hazor, the visit focuses on the upper city. Solomon’s Gate, with six chambers and two towers, dates to the 10th century BCE; the Canaanite palace was used by the kings of Hazor in the 14th and 13th centuries BCE. The Late Bronze Age palace is described as the most elaborate in Israel and one of the most important in the Levant. The fortifications are also considered the finest example of their kind in the area from southern Turkey to the northern Negev.

The water system at Tel Hazor includes significant remains of an underground water collection system, representing sophisticated engineering adapted to the geographical conditions for water storage. The excavated shaft is 45 meters deep, with steps three meters wide carved into the walls of the vertical shaft. These structures show how water storage and construction history emerge as distinct aspects of the archaeological site.

Tel Megiddo, also in the Northern District, is a biblical tell with significant remains of a city associated with the Bible. Its orthogonal Iron Age city plan has few parallels in the Levant. A temple complex from the Early Bronze Age is exceptional for the number of its temples, the continuity of cult activity, and its documented ritual activities. By comparison, at Tel Hazor, the gate, palace, water collection system and fortifications, among other features, draw attention to different archaeological questions. These two regional examples thus complement the cultural perspective on Evron without replacing its museums and offerings.
