In Blora, discoveries range from cultural traditions to caves, archaeological finds and crafts. Manganan Janjang is recognised as an intangible cultural heritage of Indonesia. For your trip, this offers a special introduction to the destination’s cultural side; the landscape and specific experiences each have their own focus.

Caves, Teak Forests and Landscapes

Goa Terawang is a complex of six caves spanning a contiguous area of 13 hectares. A large natural opening lets sunlight into the cave. This makes both the size of the cave complex and a specific lighting effect central features—two distinct aspects for anyone interested in cave landscapes.

Goa Sentono lies in the Bengawan Solo Valley in Desa Mendenrejo, Kecamatan Kradenan, Blora. Local accounts connect the site with a former small hermitage called Sentono, which Ki Blacak Ngilo is said to have led. Alongside its location in the valley, an orally transmitted past is part of what gives this place its character.

The nature experiences also offer different highlights. Gubug Payung is a natural forest in Desa Temengeng, Kecamatan Sambong, where visitors can see centuries-old teak trees. Bukit Pencu offers green scenery with the Kendeng Utara mountain region in the background. One view focuses on old trees in the forest, the other on green scenery with a named mountain backdrop.

Another way to explore the teak forests is the Loko Tour. The journey travels by vintage train through the forests in the KPH Cepu area of Kabupaten Blora. The train is a German steam locomotive built by Berliner Maschinenbau in 1928; the route is about 25 kilometres long. Thus, the train technology and forest area are both part of this tour. Archaeology and History

Archaeological human remains estimated to be between 7,770 and 9,600 years old have been discovered in Goa Kidang. The age is an estimate. The archaeological site can be reached by various means of transport, though no specific route is implied.

The Fosil Gajah Purbakala Museum is located in Dusun Sunggun, Desa Mendalem, Kecamatan Kradenan, Kabupaten Blora. Visitors can see various prehistoric elephant fossils there. Archaeological finds and fossils thus offer two different ways to explore the past: Goa Kidang is known for its estimated human remains, while the museum features prehistoric elephant fossils.

At MC Edupark, visitors can learn about the history of oil and natural gas processing. This complements the archaeological and natural history topics with an insight into the processing of these resources.

Ceramics, Local Food and Experiences

The village of Balong in Kecamatan Jepon, Kabupaten Blora, is a centre for pottery and ceramics production. Griya Keramik Balong is located in Desa Balong, Kecamatan Jepon, and offers educational packages on making ceramics, roof tiles and exposed brick. These three products give the craft theme a specific range—from ceramics to bricks.

Local food also connects visitors with specific places: Lontong Opor Ngloram is a dish from Ngloram in Cepu, Kabupaten Blora. Opor Ayam Pak Pangat is located on Jl. Lap. Terbang, RT.05/RW.01. This lets you include both a locally associated dish and a named venue in your exploration.

At Waduk Greneng, visitors can go around the reservoir by jukung or speedboat and cross to Cemoro Pitu. Fishing is also possible there. Those who want to spend time on the water will find several activities described here, with options ranging from a boat tour and a crossing to fishing.

Leisure Activities and Accommodation

Taman Rekreasi Tirtonadi recreational park has swimming pools for adults and children, a children’s playground and a mini zoo. Water Splash Taman Sarbini offers a water park and games for children. Kampung Bluron has a swimming pool, parking area, prayer room, toilets and accommodation. The three venues therefore have different focuses: pools and a mini zoo, a water park and children’s games, or facilities that include accommodation.

You can choose what to explore in Blora based on the themes that interest you most: caves and landscapes, archaeological traces, ceramics, local food or activities on the water.
