Abádszalók combines Lake Tisza Beach with a published E-bike loop and local history reflected in its church and monuments. The local highlights offer different starting points for planning your trip.

Beach and water activities

Lake Tisza Beach in Abádszalók has an almost 500-metre-long stretch of shoreline. Green areas provide space to sit in the shade and sunbathe. At the beach, visitors can go boating and take boat trips and guided water tours. Lake Tisza's public beach is also a parasailing location; check its seasonal availability before your trip. Beach facilities can also change seasonally, so it is worth checking the current situation before your visit. For water tours, it is advisable to confirm specific dates in advance.

Abádszalók on E-bike routes

A published E-bike loop by Hortobágy National Park follows the Lake Tisza dyke via Tiszafüred, Tiszaörvény, Abádszalók, Kisköre and Poroszló, returning to Tiszafüred. A published E-bike tour around Lake Tisza also passes through Abádszalók and includes the Abádi-rév monument as a stop. The place names give a concrete impression of the loop's route, while the monument connects cycling with a historical reference. Before your trip, check whether the tour you want to take runs on your chosen dates.

In the wider destination of Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County, Lake Tisza in the northern part of the county serves as a tourist hub. The lake and its surroundings are among the region's outstanding areas for cycling tourism. The international EuroVelo 11 cycling route also runs along the Tisza through the county.

Church and monuments

Abádszalók's Great War Memorial was unveiled in 1924. The Szalóki Reformed Church was built in 1822. By the late 2000s, it was at risk of falling into disrepair; it was restored in the first phase of the Tisza-tavi Templomok útja project. Both buildings provide historical points of reference in the townscape, with different dates: the church looks back to the early 19th century, and the memorial to 20th-century history.

Another monument commemorates the union of TiszaAbád and TiszaSzalók in 1896 and stands on István király út. Designed as an oversized clothespin, it is located in a park-like setting in front of the Ember-Mária Library building. The Babamúzeum is housed in the local Faluház. Together with the church and the Great War Memorial, it adds a local museum to the town's historical highlights.

Planning your stay

If you want to focus on the beach and water activities, plan differently than you would for a trip centred on E-biking or an interest in the monuments and church. For specific tours, parasailing and the seasonally changing beach, check the conditions for your travel dates.
