Two cycling routes pass through Négyes: one tour in the northern part of Lake Tisza and a 35-kilometre circular route passing through several named places. Their descriptions differ in length and layout; the surface breakdown is also provided for the longer tour. A different connection to the village is offered by the present-day church: its interior furnishings were installed in 1909–1910. In Négyes, specific cycling routes and a historically dated detail of the church thus sit side by side.

Cycling routes with different profiles

A cycling-tour description dated 26 September 2015 outlines a route through Négyes in the northern part of Lake Tisza. It is about 44 km long, of which 16 km are on gravel and 28 km on asphalt. This breakdown shows that both surfaces form part of the same described route. As the tour description dates from 2015, check local conditions before setting off.

Another route is the 35 km circular cycling route “Tisza-tó kis kerülőkör”. It passes through Tiszadorogma, Tiszabábolna, Tiszavalk, Négyes, Poroszló and Tiszafüred. The sequence of places gives this circular route a different layout from the tour in the northern part of Lake Tisza.

The circular route is about nine kilometres shorter than the approximately 44 km tour. In addition, only one of the two routes is explicitly described as a circular route; the gravel and asphalt proportions are specified for the longer tour instead. If you prefer a loop, you can use this route type as a distinguishing feature. Check local conditions before setting off.

A historic detail of the church

The interior furnishings of the present-day church in Négyes were installed in 1909–1910. This date provides a clear historical point of reference and contrasts with the cycling information: here, the focus is on the furnishings of a specific building, not the length or surface of a route. A cultural and historical detail and two different route profiles thus complement one another as distinct topics for planning a trip.

Other perspectives in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén

The wider travel destination of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén offers further nature and cultural themes. They form part of the regional context and focus on different things from the local details and cycling routes of Négyes.

The Zemplén Landscape Protection Area is part of the Zemplén Mountains. The area’s landscape influences its flora and fauna. The mountain range also belongs to the Eperjes-Tokaj Mountains, which connect to the Carpathians in the north, across the border in Slovakia. In the regional context, the focus is therefore on the connection between mountain landscapes and nature.

The Tokaj Wine Region offers a different perspective: its climate, soil quality and slope exposure are suitable for growing grapes. As a protected wine-growing area, the region enjoys legal protection. Viticulture can thus be understood both in terms of the landscape conditions and the region’s protected status.

The Baradla-Domica cave system is another regional attraction. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Caves of Aggtelek Karst and Slovak Karst. A short cave tour near Aggtelek is 1 km long, takes 60 minutes and is classified as easy. An educational trail connects the Aggtelek and Jósvafő entrances to Baradla Cave and presents the natural and cultural-historical values of the area. Here, a clearly described short tour and an educational trail focused on natural and cultural history sit side by side.
