Tsilivi–Kampitsi Beach lies in front of the tourist settlement of Plános on the east coast of the island of Zakynthos. It occupies an open bay that is 1,300 meters long and an average of 10 meters wide. This gives you a clear coastal reference point for considering Plános as a possible base for your trip. The two measurements describe different dimensions of the bay: its length along the coast and its average width.

Plános and its coastal setting

The beach lies in front of the settlement, which makes its location more precise than searching for Zakynthos alone. The measurements also give you an idea of the shape of the bay, without confusing its length with its width. When deciding where you would like to stay, the first question is therefore whether Plános suits your travel plans.

Zakynthos in a wider context

Beyond the beach, Zakynthos offers other cultural points of interest. On the ground floor of the Museum of Solomos and Eminent Zakynthians, the mausoleum has housed the remains of the national poets Andreas Kalvos and Dionysios Solomos since 1968. The Zakynthos Museum has a different focus: it displays works of the Cretan School, Cretan-Ionian icons, and works of Ionian naturalism from the 15th to the 19th century. Those wishing to include culture in their travel plans will find two different points of interest on the island. The Monastery of Agios Georgios sta Gremna in Volimes is also among Zakynthos’s historic sites; it was founded in 1535.

The island’s natural features range from coastal formations to protected natural areas. The Blue Caves are in the Aspros Vrachos area at Cape Skinari. Keri Lake is a wetland protected under the Ramsar Convention, a Natura site, and a nature reserve within the Zakynthos National Marine Park. The Keri Lighthouse is known for panoramic views of the Ionian Sea and the Myzithres rocks at sunset. These attractions are quite different from Plános’s coastal setting and can help you sort out your interests for a stay on Zakynthos.

Other island highlights to consider

Local products and ferry connections may also play a part in your planning. In Volimes, Zakynthian Ladotyri cheese is made in dairies and home workshops and offered as a local product. The individual producers who offer it may change. The port of Agios Nikolaos in Volimes is a seaport access point and connects Zakynthos with Kefalonia by ferry. If you are considering this connection for your trip, check the schedule for your travel dates.

You can first decide whether you want to focus your stay on the coastal setting around Plános, then consider which cultural, natural, or other island highlights matter to your trip. This lets you consider where to stay and what interests you separately, without combining them into a single route.
