Krummbek brings together several highlights for a stay: a landscape shaped by streams and ponds, candle making and local places to eat.
Candle making for different groups
Krummbeker Kerzenscheune offers candle making for families, individuals and groups of up to 60 people. The activity is available year-round. Check the opening arrangements before visiting. The stated group size is a useful guide when planning a group activity; at the same time, the offer is explicitly aimed at individuals and families, too.
Streams, ponds and the town’s name
Three streams and several smaller and larger ponds shape the local landscape. The name Krummbek is associated with the name of the stream “Crumbeke.” Both the landscape and the town’s name therefore reflect the theme of water: through the local waterways and through the connection to the stream’s name. Alongside its activities, Krummbek also offers a distinctive landscape to explore.
Local places to eat
Local places to eat include Biolandhof Muhs, which has an organic butcher’s shop on site, and Witt’s Gasthof. Its menu features traditional and regional dishes, and there is also a beer garden. The two places have different highlights: the butcher’s shop is a distinctive feature of Biolandhof, while Witt’s Gasthof focuses on its cuisine and beer garden. Menus and opening hours may change. If you are planning a visit, it is best to check these details in advance.
The wider Plön area
Plön district lies between the Baltic Sea and Holstein Switzerland and has around 50 kilometres of Baltic Sea coastline. Around 80 lakes are located within the district. Lake Großer Plöner See covers 29 km², and Lake Selenter See covers 22 km². The wider Plön destination therefore encompasses both lakes and coastline. The district’s Baltic coast offers opportunities for swimming; sailing, surfing, diving, boat trips, offshore sailing excursions, cutter trips and surf fishing are also possible there. You can also explore the Schwentine Water Trail in Plön district by canoe. Sailing boats and excursion boats also offer trips on the lakes. This means that the activities on the Baltic coast are complemented by more ways to get out on the water.
Large parts of Plön district are within Holstein Switzerland Nature Park. The nature park covers 75,000 hectares and offers opportunities to enjoy nature and spot rare animals. The district’s gently rolling landscape is well suited to cycling and hiking tours. There is also a signposted 850 km cycling network and developed Nordic walking routes. The size of the cycling network may change if routes are altered in future. When choosing what to explore in the region, you can therefore distinguish between activities on the water and a focus on nature, cycling or hiking.
