Three certified premium hiking trails and the Graf-Heinrich Trail provide practical starting points for planning hikes in Lemberg.

Plan a Hike in Lemberg

Two of the three premium hiking trails were established in 2009; the Flößer Tour was added in 2020. If you are planning a specific hike, check trail conditions and any possible restrictions before setting out. This also helps you account for the fact that conditions on individual trails may change.

The Graf-Heinrich Trail is an approximately 12-kilometer hike that starts at the parking lot near Lemberg Castle. The route passes through woodland and by Bunter sandstone formations. It also features viewpoints around Rabenfelsen and Ruppertstein, as well as Maiblumen-Fels. These waypoints and the approximate length give you concrete details for planning your day; also check current trail conditions before you set out.

Getting There and Planning Your Stay

By train, first travel to Pirmasens; from there, bus routes 856 or 854 go to Lemberg. Check the routes and timetables before departure. The parking lot at the castle offers free parking and is close to the starting point of the Graf-Heinrich Trail. You should also check the parking rules before you drive. If you choose one of the three premium routes, take the conditions on that particular trail into account for your hiking day.
