The themed circular trail, the community garden on Kanalstraße and Hochstätten (Pfalz) railway station offer three different perspectives for planning your trip: landscapes and local history on foot, individual opportunities for exercise and relaxation in the garden, and timetable information for your journey.

Hiking and Local History

The themed circular trail is about 4.5 kilometres long and passes through pine forests, wine-growing landscapes and small stream valleys. Along the way, it offers wide-ranging views. Ten information panels present local history and culture, giving the route a historical and cultural focus. This brings together impressions of the landscape and knowledge of the local area on the same walk.

Geocaches are located at or near the themed points. They complement the information panels as another element of the circular trail. If you would like to experience nature and local themes together, the route brings both aspects together. The distance is approximate; check the trail conditions locally.

Community Garden: Exercise and Relaxation

The community garden on Kanalstraße brings together several facilities: a small barefoot path, a water-treading pool and outdoor exercise equipment. Seating and resting areas provide a quieter option. The site also includes a lawn suitable for picnics. Unlike the themed circular trail, which passes through varied landscapes and offers information about history and culture, the garden brings together individual opportunities for exercise and relaxation in one place.

Maintenance and seasonal conditions may affect the use of individual facilities. Check their condition before your visit.

Railway Station and Timetable

Hochstätten (Pfalz) railway station is located at An der B 48. Deutsche Bahn provides timetables, information about timetable changes, and live departure and arrival information for the station. This can help with planning and checking the latest information before your journey. Train services and timetables may change, so check Deutsche Bahn’s station information before travelling.

More Discoveries in the Bad Kreuznach Destination

The wider Bad Kreuznach destination also offers distinctive cultural and landscape themes. In Bad Kreuznach, the bridge houses were built from 1480 onwards due to a lack of space. The half-timbered buildings stand on the pillars of the old Nahe Bridge, which was built around 1300. Since 1985/86, the museums of the city of Bad Kreuznach have been housed in the listed former Bangert manor, which is set in a historic park.

The Felseneremitage, a place of worship carved entirely into the rock, is located in Bretzenheim. It probably dates back to prehistoric times and was repurposed in the early Christian period. It can be viewed from the outside all year round without a guided tour; entry to the rock dwelling is currently not possible due to a rockfall. In Windesheim, the orgel ART Museum is dedicated to musical instruments and is unique of its kind in Germany.

A summer leisure activity is the barefoot path in Bad Sobernheim. The 3.5-kilometre route leads to the Nahe and includes a clay-treading pool, an agility course and various types of ground surface. Comparing the routes, Bad Sobernheim’s 3.5 kilometres can be set against Hochstätten’s approximately 4.5 kilometres. Their focuses also differ: the barefoot path offers a variety of trail and course features, while the Hochstätten circular trail incorporates local history and culture through its information panels.
