An approximately six-kilometre circular trail in the Tribohmer Bachtal, village churches with different cultural connections, and two waterway rest stops offer a variety of highlights for a trip to Ahrenshagen-Daskow. You can plan your excursions around nature, churches and water-based activities. Practical conditions also vary: a choir gathering takes place in Pantlitz every June, while the two waterside rest stops each have their own facilities and restrictions.

Circular trails and nature

The nature trail in the Tribohmer Bachtal is an approximately six-kilometre circular route between Gruel and Tribohm. On 24 October 2023, the trail was completed with a total of 14 information panels. They provide information about the area’s flora and fauna, as well as specific topics relating to the landscape. The route therefore combines a trail between two places with information about local wildlife, plants and landscape.

A section of the Recknitztal circular trail – Lower Recknitz Valley passes through Daskow, Pantlitz and Tribohm in the municipality of Ahrenshagen-Daskow. Compared with the nature trail in the valley, the three named places are a useful point of reference for planning. The two routes can thus be distinguished by their respective courses: the nature trail is described as an approximately six-kilometre loop, while the Recknitztal section passes through Daskow, Pantlitz and Tribohm.

Village churches and culture

Ahrenshagen village church has medieval vault paintings. The choir gathering “Pantlitzer Burgwallsingen” takes place in Pantlitz village church every June; the exact dates vary. So if the choir gathering is the reason for your trip, check the dates for the relevant year.

Since Whitsun 2006, Pantlitz village church has been a cyclists’ church; it was the first of its kind in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Vineta Trail connects the European long-distance walking routes E9 and E10, which run from Saint Petersburg to Gibraltar. The church served as a tourist stop for cycle tourists along this route. Pantlitz thus combines an annual cultural event with a historic connection to cycle touring, while the vault paintings in Ahrenshagen church provide a distinct art-historical highlight.

Exhibition on the nature of the Recknitz

The Gruel Nature Conservation Station offers insights into typical animal species of the Recknitz and its valley bog. Taxidermy specimens and colour panels illustrate these species; the exhibition provides information about fish, large freshwater mussels and the dragonfly fauna of the Recknitztal, among other things. You can explore the exhibition independently and free of charge. If you plan to make the station a fixed part of your itinerary, check visiting arrangements in advance.

Waterway rest stops in Pantlitz and Daskow

The two waterway rest stops differ in their facilities and conditions. Pantlitz has a boat dock and a view of the cyclists’ church, but no toilets or sanitary facilities. The Daskow waterway rest stop has a landing stage and a fire pit. Camping is permitted there, but there are no supply or disposal facilities. The Anglerverein’s sanitary facilities can be used by prior arrangement. If you plan to use them in Daskow, arrange this in advance.

Use your specific excursion plans to guide your search for a holiday apartment. If you visit in June, take into account that the choir gathering dates vary; for the nature conservation station, it is advisable to check visiting arrangements in advance.
