In the village of Niepars, the village church and a small pond with seating are close to one another; the pond is a pleasant place to take a break. Other cultural and scenic destinations are located in other parts of the municipality of Niepars. This location is important when planning: several destinations are outside the village of Niepars, but still within the municipality.

Village Church and a Break by the Pond

Niepars village church is a two-aisled brick church dating from the 13th century. It is surrounded by a cemetery, and a small burial chapel stands at the southern entrance. The church grounds thus include the cemetery and chapel as well as the church building itself. The nearby pond, with its seating, offers another place to stop for a quiet break.

The village church is generally considered to be open to visitors at all times; check access in advance if you are planning a visit. Inside the church is a chalice-shaped granite baptismal font dating from the 14th century. In 1867, the church received an organ from the Stralsund workshop of Friedrich Albert Mehmel. Its dilapidated tower had already been taken down in the 18th century. The building’s design, furnishings and this alteration point to several historical periods.

The Manor and Rural History in the Municipality

ObermĂĽtzkow is part of the municipality of Niepars, but lies outside the village of the same name. The local history and agricultural technology museum is located on the manor estate. Its collection includes tools and machines used from the late 19th century through the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition covers transport, tractors, and sowing, planting and harvesting technology on the ground floor and outdoors. The first floor focuses on soil cultivation, crop processing, rural crafts and household management. The subject matter thus ranges from agricultural technology to everyday rural activities. If you are planning a museum visit, check in advance what visiting options are available.

The manor complex in ObermĂĽtzkow is also a listed historic site and dates from around 1750. Examples of cultural events held at the estate include classic car gatherings, estate festivals, equestrian displays and a Christmas market. Check the dates if you would like to include one of these events in your trip. In Neu Bartelshagen, also within the municipality but outside the village of Niepars, there is a manor house built in 1750 by a Swedish officer. Its ceiling paintings have been preserved.

Bodden Villages, Nature and Accommodation

ZĂĽhlendorf and Neu Bartelshagen border the Grabow Bodden; the area is an important resting place for migratory birds from Scandinavia. Zansebuhr is known for its lime-tree avenue, which is protected as a natural monument. In ZĂĽhlendorf, visitors go kitesurfing at the former harbour; they can also walk along the Bodden from the area of the former harbour. There are also opportunities for cycling tours along the Bodden waters around Niepars. Check route conditions before setting out on a specific cycling tour.

For an overnight stay within the municipality, there is the “Zu den zwei Birken” nature campsite in Duvendiek. It has a motorhome parking area, tent pitches and holiday apartments. Duvendiek lies outside the village of Niepars. Before travelling, check the condition of the facilities and the availability of the holiday apartments. From a tourism perspective, the municipality of Niepars lies on the transport route between Rügen and the Darß, via Stralsund and Barth.
