Lindetal combines a hilly landscape shaped by glacial ground moraine with village churches and manor houses from different periods. This lets you choose between a cultural and historical focus and recreational activities in the municipality. As an architect, Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel also links the church towers in Plath and Leppin.

Churches from Different Periods

The village churches in Plath and Leppin make for an interesting comparison of building periods. In Leppin, a fieldstone ashlar building, originally without a tower, was built around 1300; the fieldstone building in Plath dates from around 1500. Their tower histories differ: in Plath, the present brick tower replaced an earlier tower in 1854. In Leppin, the present tower complex was added in 1843, built by the Strelitz building councillor Buttel. The wall paintings in Leppin were recreated in 2008 based on historical models. Church access may vary; check before visiting.

The village church in Alt Käbelich is also a fieldstone ashlar building, dating there from the late 13th century. Dewitz has an early medieval fieldstone church. Another medieval landmark is the surviving motte with a moat in the garden of the old vicarage in Dewitz.

An exhibition was set up at Gut Alt Käbelich in rooms of a former electric mill and an outbuilding. It covered topics such as beekeeping, domestic life and agriculture, baking, and home slaughtering. Check whether the exhibition is currently open to visitors before going.

Manor Houses and Their History

After the 1755 fire, alterations and additions to Leppin Manor House were designed in the Tudor style based on plans by Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. Ballin Manor House was built in 1837 as a single-storey rendered building with a half-hipped roof. The two building histories have different points of emphasis: a fire shaped the later renovations in Leppin, while the construction date and exterior form are recorded for Ballin.
