Zislow lies on the eastern shore of Lake Plau. Water sports, a natural swimming beach, cycling and horse-riding opportunities, and trails through the Stemmnitz nature area offer different ways to spend your stay. There is also an archaeological site and cultural events in the village church. If you are looking for accommodation in Zislow, you can plan your stay around what matters most to you: the lake, nature trails or cultural attractions.
On Lake Plau: Sports and a natural swimming beach
Motorboating, sailing, surfing, rowing and canoeing are all possible on Lake Plau. The lake therefore offers various ways to enjoy active days on the water. Zislow’s natural swimming beach offers something different: its shallow water and gently sloping shore make it suitable for families with toddlers. So, if you are travelling with young children, you will find a specific local feature here; water sports and the bathing area also offer distinct options to consider when planning your stay.
Cycling routes, riding trails and paths in the Stemmnitz nature area
From Zislow, you can explore the surrounding area by bicycle on continuous cycle paths along Lake Plau. There are also quiet roads and rural farm tracks. This gives you a choice of routes along the lake or through the rural surroundings. Zislow also offers good conditions for horse riding on natural trails.
In the Stemmnitz nature area, circular walks lead to the Zislow observation tower via the “Path of the Sleeping Stones” or the “Path of the Forest and Tree Spirits.” Both named trails share the same destination, but differ in their names and themes. The lakeside cycle paths, rural routes and circular walks in the Stemmnitz can therefore be considered distinct nature and outdoor activity options, rather than combined into a single circular route.
Cup-marked stone and village church
The Zislow cup-marked stone measures 1.7 Ă— 2.1 metres and has 116 carved cup marks. It is located just before the exit from the village in the direction of Malchow. Its dimensions and number of cup marks make the stone a specific archaeological point of interest in the village. The village church also offers cultural activities, with various events held there. An exhibition adds to the programme from late June to late August. Zislow harbour was redeveloped in 2006.
More nature attractions in the Mecklenburg Lake District
The MĂĽritz National Park is also located within the broader Mecklenburg Lake District travel region. It is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is characterised by forests, bogs, lakes and wide meadows. The MĂĽritz National Park hiking trail explores this landscape in nine stages, passing lakes, ancient forests and inland dunes, and leading to the source of the River Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours through the national park, including guided visits to the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest in Serrahn and tours from the water.
Another nature attraction in the Mecklenburg Lake District is the Damerower Werder bison reserve. It is located on a peninsula in Lake Kölpin, within the Mecklenburg Lake District and the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park. Visitors can observe the animals there. The reserve also has a forest discovery trail with climbing opportunities, an anthill house, an exhibition with tactile and visual panels, and a dendrophone. These regional attractions add further distinct nature experiences within the Mecklenburg Lake District to the options available in Zislow.
