Fleesensee and Kölpinsee provide the geographical setting for Göhren-Lebbin. There are also specific topics to consider when planning a trip: bathing spots in Untergöhren, trails with different characteristics, the fieldstone church in Poppentin and the Golf Fleesensee golf centre. Lakeshores, walks, architectural history and golf offer different ways to enjoy a stay.
Lakeshores and waterways
In the district of Untergöhren, there are grassy areas for sunbathing and bathing spots on the shore of Fleesensee. Göhren-Lebbin also has direct, lock-free water connections to the Müritz and Lake Plauer. These offer two different perspectives for finding your way around: Untergöhren identifies a specific area for swimming, while the water connections take you beyond the two lakes to other bodies of water.
Walking trails with different focuses
The bee nature trail follows a little-used agricultural track between Göhren-Lebbin and Kirch Poppentin and offers walkers interesting information. It is about two kilometres long and has an observation tower with views of nature. Along the trail, the bee “Holli” guides children through a quiz under the motto “On your wings, get set, go!” The approximate trail length, observation tower and quiz are the defining features of this walk.
The Göhren-Lebbin Nature Experience Trail circular walk offers a different point of orientation. It starts at the former manor house “Schloss Blücher” and leads back to Göhren-Lebbin via an avenue. While quizzes and learning are the focus of the bee nature trail, the Nature Experience Trail is defined by its circular route, starting point and return along the avenue. This makes it easy to distinguish the two trails by their different focuses.
Fieldstone church and local history
The listed Protestant fieldstone church stands in Poppentin, a district of the municipality of Göhren-Lebbin. The rectangular fieldstone building dates from the 13th century. The church cemetery contains the Tiele-Winckler family tomb, featuring a copy of Bertel Thorvaldsen’s “Christus” erected in 1890. The architecture and tomb offer different points of interest: the medieval church building on the one hand, and a later work of art in the cemetery setting on the other.
Golf Fleesensee
The Golf Fleesensee golf and tennis centre in Göhren-Lebbin has five courses: two short 9-hole courses, a par-67 course and two 18-hole courses. The formats differ in their number of holes and par. If you’re including golf in your travel plans, these specific course details can help you find your way around and distinguish between the different courses.
The Mecklenburg Lake District: a broader natural setting
Müritz National Park is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District, a landscape characterised by forests, moors, lakes and wide meadows. The Müritz National Park hiking trail covers these landscape types in nine stages: it passes lakes, winds through ancient forests, follows inland dunes and reaches the source of the Havel. Certified nature and landscape guides offer informative tours through the national park, including guided visits to the UNESCO World Heritage beech forest of Serrahn and tours from the water.
The Damerower Werder European bison reserve is also part of the region. It lies on a peninsula in Kölpinsee and in Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park. Visitors can watch the animals there. A forest adventure trail offers climbing opportunities, an anthill, an exhibition with touch and information panels, and a dendrophone.
