The Linspher cycle route connects Allendorf (Eder) and Bromskirchen, with a clear focus on physical activity. In Allendorf, a half-timbered house with a documented building history, the “Huffmanns Haus” village museum in Rennertehausen, and a multi-generational park add to the options. This lets you choose between a cycling and hiking route, local history, and opportunities for shared activities.

Cycling or hiking on the Linspher cycle route

The Linspher cycle route is about 9.2 kilometres long and connects Allendorf (Eder) and Bromskirchen. You can include the route in your travel plans as either a cycling route or a hiking trail. If you are looking for a specific activity during your stay, the route offers a clearly defined connection and approximate length to help guide your plans.

Half-timbered houses and village history

The local history museum at BachstraĂźe 15 is housed in a half-timbered building. The house was built in 1851 and renovated in the 1990s. These two dates mark different stages in its building history: the renovation followed its construction many decades later.

The “Huffmanns Haus” village museum in Rennertehausen preserves memories of the village’s development. Its themes range from living and working to spinning and weaving, and sowing and harvesting. Everyday life and various activities are therefore at the heart of the museum. Visits are possible by appointment; arrange your visit in advance.

The two history-focused attractions have different emphases: at the local history museum, the half-timbered house’s building history is tangible, while “Huffmanns Haus” preserves memories of village life and its development.

Activities at the multi-generational park

The Allendorf (Eder) multi-generational park covers an area of about 3,000 square metres and offers 28 stations for activities and communication across generations. The “Im Ried” dirt-bike facility is also located in the park. It offers trails of varying difficulty and a pump track, and opened in October 2017. The activities on offer have distinct focuses: the stations encourage shared activities, while the dirt-bike facility is for trails and pump-track riding.

Waldeck-Frankenberg: more nature and cultural attractions

Those wishing to explore beyond Allendorf will find more nature and cultural attractions in the wider Waldeck-Frankenberg destination. The ancient beech forests of Kellerwald-Edersee National Park have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011. The 66-kilometre Urwaldsteig Edersee trail can be hiked in eight stages or as part of a three-day ranger hike, with each stage covering around 22 kilometres. These formats divide the route differently; check the dates for the ranger hike before travelling.

The GeoFoyer Kalkturm Korbach showcases the landscape and wildlife around Korbach as they were 250 million years ago. An exhibition also explores the extraction and processing of limestone and its industrial use in the quarry for over 100 years. Here, a distant landscape history sits alongside a much more recent industrial use.

The historic town hall in Frankenberg (Eder) also combines architectural history with a specific cultural connection: the half-timbered town hall dates from 1509 and has ten towers, representing the town’s ten guilds. Every Saturday, the Landfrauen farmers’ market takes place at the town hall’s covered market area. Check the date before travelling.

In Vöhl-Herzhausen on Lake Edersee, Kellerwald National Park Centre offers an interactive exhibition with displays about the wilderness of the Kellerwald, as well as a 4D sensory film about the wilderness and its wildlife. The attractions in Waldeck-Frankenberg thus range from hiking options and landscapes to exhibitions and half-timbered history.
