Pinnow combines a historic town centre with museums dedicated to technology and agriculture, a cultural programme and opportunities for fishing. You can tailor your stay to different interests: local history and the church, exhibitions or events each offer a distinct focus. When planning your visit, pay particular attention to the museums’ telephone booking requirements and changing programmes.
Getting There and Finding Your Way
Pinnow is accessible via the B2, the K7304 and the Berlin–Schwedt railway line. If you are travelling by train, check the current timetable. The railway stop also provides access to nature experiences in the surrounding area. This information can help you choose how to travel; plan specific train connections using the timetable.
Local History and the Church
Pinnow was first documented as “Pynnow” on 5 April 1354. At the centre of the historic town centre is an “island” with a church and a house. The village church preserves two bells dating from 1481 and 1522. Pinnow thus brings together an early written record of the town’s name, a striking focal point in its historic centre and evidence of the church’s history.
Technology and Agriculture in the Museums
The Pinnow Telephone and Rocket Museum is housed in the former House 9 of the Pinnow Repair Works. Its exhibition covers rocket and communications technology, including surface-to-air, air-to-air and anti-tank missiles. Visits must be booked by telephone. Confirm the current arrangements before travelling.
The Pinnow Agricultural Museum is housed in a former estate granary. Its two floors display agricultural tools and machinery. A visit here also requires a telephone booking; it is best to check the current arrangements before your trip. The two museums have different focuses: one covers rockets and communications technology, the other agricultural work and machinery.
A root museum is located in a distillery in Pinnow. If you plan to visit, check the current opening arrangements in advance.
Culture, Food and Fishing
Eisschmiede Uckermark is also a cultural venue. Its programme includes concerts, open-air cinema and informal events such as a weekly games afternoon. Programmes and recurring events may change, so it is worth checking the latest dates. The offerings include homemade ice cream, savoury dishes, coffee and tea specialities, homemade lemonades and selected wines. The selection may also change.
Haus-See and Hauptmann-See are associated with fishing near Pinnow. If you would like to fish there, check the applicable permits and conditions in advance. This makes it possible to plan the activity specifically without conflating it with museum visits or the cultural programme.
The Wider Region: Uckermark
The Uckermark provides the regional context. Uckermärkische Seen Nature Park lies amid the Uckermark’s lake-rich, gently rolling landscape and includes clear-water lakes, kettle holes and bogs. For further travel planning, the nature park offers more than 150 kilometres of water trails and over 600 kilometres of signposted hiking trails. These regional attractions complement Pinnow’s local history, museums and culture with a distinctive perspective on the landscape.
