Parsteinsee is located in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. Three themes can help guide your travel planning: water at Lake Parstein, natural landscapes and historic buildings in Lüdersdorf. The options appeal to different interests: you can focus your stay on swimming and boating, include walking or cycling routes, or explore the preserved architecture. The right combination depends on how you want to spend your time in the area.
Swimming and Boating on Lake Parstein
Water sports and fishing are possible on Lake Parstein, but motorboats are not permitted. Swimming is subject to a separate rule: swimming is allowed only at designated bathing areas. Plan your swim at a designated spot and follow any current signs on site. The natural shorelines are not automatically suitable for swimming.
The Parstein bathing area offers rowing boats, pedal boats, volleyball and table tennis. You can choose between boating on the water and activities on land. Facilities may change, so check what is available before your visit.
There are also swimming and boating opportunities at the campsite on Lake Parstein. Boats and bicycles are available for hire there, and a restaurant and shopping facilities round out the amenities. If you would like to include these facilities in your plans, check their current availability in advance.
Bathing areas and campsites are located on Pehlitzwerder and near Parstein. These location details can help you choose a suitable destination for the day. In all cases, the rule for swimming remains the same: use designated bathing areas only.
Shorelines, Nature and Seasonal Conditions
Most of the shores of Lake Parstein are natural, and there are also several quiet protected zones. The lake is considered clean and is surrounded by largely unspoilt nature. If you are primarily interested in experiencing the landscape, you can include cycling and walking routes in your travel plans. Water conditions can vary by season, so do not assume they will remain the same throughout the year when making specific plans.
Porch Houses and Monastery Ruins
Two historic, listed porch houses have been preserved in Lüdersdorf. Despite ongoing restoration work, visitors can learn about the architecture and the way of life associated with it in the past. If these houses are a particular reason for your trip, check the latest visitor information in advance, as the restoration status may change.
Remains of the Cistercian monastery of Mariensee can be seen on Pehlitzwerder. These two historic attractions offer different perspectives: in Lüdersdorf, the focus is on the preserved houses and the way of life associated with them; on Pehlitzwerder, it is on the monastery ruins. This allows you to include architectural and cultural interests in your travel plans without treating the two sights as equivalent.
Getting There and Routes
Parsteinsee is accessible by road, as well as by cycling and walking routes. If you are planning a specific cycling or walking route, check its course and current conditions before your trip. You can then take the available routes into account in a way that suits your daily plans, without assuming a particular route.
From Berlin, you can reach Chorin by regional express train; from there, it is about ten kilometres to the lake. Plan the onward journey from Chorin separately, and check the train timetable and connection options before you travel. The distance is a guide for planning, not an indication of a specific onward connection or travel time.
