Pfaffing brings together several distinct reasons to visit: a Culture Trail in the form of a cycling loop, a Nature Discovery Trail with puzzles and activity stations, and cultural offerings at St. Catherine’s Parish Church and at Kunst in der Filzen. Nearby, you will also find the small river Attel and the Filzen, a wetland landscape. These offer different focuses: cycling past cultural and historical sites, nature experiences and a stage programme. Which of these you focus on depends on whether you are planning a cycling loop, want to visit nature stations or would like to include a cultural event.

Culture Trail cycling loop

The Culture Trail is a cycling loop of around 28 kilometres through the municipalities of Edling and Pfaffing. It leads to historically significant cultural landmarks; weatherproof panels along the route provide information about nine monuments. The Stoa, a glacial erratic, is one of these nine stops. The Culture Trail thus combines a specific cycling route with a clear cultural and historical focus. If you would like to combine exercise and culture on an outing, the loop offers a defined route. The distance should be taken as an approximate guide.

Wooded surroundings and Alpine panorama

In the wooded area near Pfaffing are the small river Attel and the Filzen, a wetland landscape. The 18-hole Pfaffing Golf Course at Neuhaus 132 offers views of the Alpine panorama. The landscape features are therefore quite distinct: the Attel is a small river, the Filzen is a wetland landscape, and the golf course is described as having views of the Alps. While the Culture Trail is designed as a cycling loop, the golf course offers a different focus for planning your trip. You can decide whether to discover Pfaffing through its cultural and historical sites, nearby landscapes or golf with Alpine views.

Nature Discovery Trail with puzzles and activity stations

The Pfaffing Nature Discovery Trail has a total of 17 tree puzzles. Station 2 features a tactile path, a crocodile, an animal long-jump station, a listening spot and a tree nursery. Station 3 includes a hut in a forest clearing, a tree nursery with information about annual rings, a wooden xylophone and an insect hotel where wild bees can be observed. The stations offer different experiences: Station 2 focuses on tactile and listening activities as well as the animal long-jump station; Station 3 combines tree-related knowledge, sound and the observation of wild bees. The facilities at the stations may change over time; bear this in mind when planning your visit.

Church and stage programme

St. Catherine’s Parish Church in Pfaffing is a Baroque building constructed by master mason Thomas Mayr of Grafing in 1731/32. The lower part of the tower is still Late Gothic, making the church’s different construction phases visible. Tours of the church can be booked through the parish office; contact the office in advance to ask about booking. Kunst in der Filzen offers a stage programme in Pfaffing featuring theatre, music and cabaret. Performance dates vary. If you would like to include a performance in your stay, check the specific event dates in advance. This allows you to plan the architectural features, a possible church tour and the date-dependent stage programme separately.
