Discover Igensdorf through its themed trails and recurring local customs. The Planet Trail follows the Schwabach towards Stöckach; the Geological Hiking Trail in Rüsselbach offers insights into the geology of the area. Easter fountains at Easter and a local distilling tradition add culture and local produce to the choice of trails. When planning your trip, it is therefore helpful to consider which theme you would like to shape your stay.

Two themed trails, two different scales

The Igensdorf Planet Trail is about 3.17 km long. It begins at the Sun, by the Igensdorf town hall, follows the Schwabach towards Stöckach and ends at the Rüsselbach railway station. This gives you the starting point, direction and destination of the route.

The Geological Hiking Trail, about 2 km long, is in RĂĽsselbach and provides information about the geology of the area. It begins at the water playground in KirchrĂĽsselbach, at an elevation of 386 m, and ends at the solar farm in OberrĂĽsselbach, at 498 m above sea level. The two options therefore differ in both subject and approximate length: a geological focus over around 2 km, or the Planet Trail, which starts at the Sun and is about 3.17 km long.

Routes that pass through Igensdorf

Two other routes offer a different sense of direction. The eighth stage of the Hof–Bayreuth–Nuremberg Way of St James runs from Gräfenberg via Igensdorf to Kalchreuth. The Albrandweg (red stripe) runs from Lillinghof airfield via Mitteldorfer Berg and Igensdorf to Hetzleser Berg, then continues north. The Way of St James stage is described by the places along its route; on the Albrandweg, prominent landmarks and its continuation north indicate the direction.

Easter fountains, Burgstall and distilleries

Every year at Easter, numerous fountains and springs in the Igensdorf market municipality are decorated in vibrant colours as Easter fountains. If you would like to include this custom in your travel plans, Easter is the right time to visit.

At Burgstall Hainburg, considerable traces of the former castle site remain visible in the terrain. This historic site is a distinct point of interest alongside the trails described above and the recurring customs.

Local production is also part of the character of the area: the Igensdorf market municipality has 23 distilleries. Traditional spirits produced there include cherry, damson, apple and pear brandies. The distilleries and the products named here are a distinct attraction alongside the hiking trails and Easter custom.
