A 16th-century house, a church with a modern Stations of the Cross and orchard meadows give Riederich several distinct themes for a stay. The town lies between the foothills of the Swabian Alb and amid orchard meadows. When choosing a hotel, it helps to decide what matters most first: local history, church art, the landscape or a stay over a festival weekend.
A listed house in the old town center
The house at Entenbachstraße 17 is in the old, traffic-calmed town center. It dates from the 16th century, is one of Riederich’s oldest buildings and is significant to the town’s history and settlement history. For scientific reasons, it is protected as a cultural monument under Section 2 of the DSchG.
The building features a clearly preserved timber framework. Its projecting upper stories and long, cantilevered brackets are visible on the exterior. Alongside its date, a specific architectural detail is therefore a focal point: the house’s structure can be read in its exterior form.
Churches and their different traces through time
St. John’s Church was built in 1966/67 and is dedicated to Saint John Bosco. It contains a modern Stations of the Cross with 16 stations, created by Irmingard Nagengast between 2006 and 2010. The church was renovated and redesigned from July 2023 to November 2024; its ceremonial reopening took place on November 24, 2024.
The Church of the Resurrection is also considered a noteworthy stop on a tour of the town and its surrounding area. It thus offers a distinct point of interest alongside the architectural and artistic history of St. John’s Church.
Orchard meadows, hiking and cycling
Riederich lies amid orchard meadows and between the foothills of the Swabian Alb. The landscape therefore shapes the town’s character alongside its buildings. Riederich is considered a place for hiking and cycling. The combination of landscape and local history offers different ways to focus a stay, without requiring the two themes to be combined into a set itinerary.
In the wider Reutlingen destination, 15 hiking routes in the hochgehberge network run through the district of Reutlingen. This figure refers to the district, not to Riederich alone; the route network may change. So check the latest route information before setting out on a specific hike.
Festival weekend and regional cuisine
A festival is regularly held in Riederich on the first weekend in July. It alternates between the ecumenical parish festival and the municipal community’s civic festival. If you would like to plan your trip for this weekend, check the dates and the announced festival format for the year in question.
Dining in Riederich includes Swabian, Mediterranean and international cuisine. Along with the festivals, it adds a culinary dimension to the town’s historical and landscape-related attractions. This gives you a way to weigh up which aspects matter most when planning your stay.
Getting there and planning your stay
Riederich is connected to the regional road network by federal highway B312 between Stuttgart and Berkheim. The house at EntenbachstraĂźe 17 is in the traffic-calmed town center; road access and local history thus offer two different reference points for your plans.
