Kirovi can be explored through two distinct themes: the Anaklia-Ganmukhuri coast offers a promenade and leisure facilities, while the bridge, fortress ruins, and archaeological traces draw attention to history and architecture. When planning your stay, you can decide whether to focus more on the coast or on historical sites.

Coastal Boulevard and Beach

The 2026 municipal infrastructure and maintenance program lists a sports and leisure complex, a café-restaurant, and a mini football field on the Anaklia-Ganmukhuri Coastal Boulevard. The Anaklia-Ganmukhuri coastal area also includes a well-equipped beach with showers, a sports and wellness complex, and sand and volleyball courts. Hotels and guesthouses are also among the facilities in the coastal zone.

Palm trees and subtropical plants line the beach. Picturesque cycling paths and an amphitheater also characterize the coastal landscape. The design of the Anaklia Sea Boulevard is by the Spanish architectural firm CMD Ingenieros, S.L. This area therefore features both landscaped open spaces and facilities for sports and recreation.

Bridge over the Enguri

A pedestrian bridge connects Anaklia with the village of Ganmukhuri and spans the Enguri. The walkable section is 504 meters long. The bridge was designed by German architect Peter Walser. Its length, river crossing, and design describe different aspects of the structure: its walkable route, its connection between the two places, and its architectural authorship.

Access to the bridge and its condition may change, so check before your visit. The bridge is a concrete architectural landmark for anyone interested not only in the coastal facilities but also in a pedestrian connection and its design.

Fortress and Archaeological Traces

The ruins of a fortress built in 1703 are located in Anaklia. The fortress is surrounded by a two-tier defensive wall. For visitors interested in historic buildings, this wall is a striking detail: it gives the site a clearly recognizable defensive structure. Anaklia is also considered one of the earliest seaports and fishing villages on the Black Sea.

The archaeological monument of Dikha Gudzuba offers insight into a different historical period. It documents Colchian activity in Anaklia in the 6th to 5th centuries BC. Finds from the site are kept at the nearby Zugdidi Museum. The archaeological traces and the fortress dating from 1703 thus represent distinctly different periods; they offer two separate ways to explore the history of the place.

Where to Stay in Kirovi

The Anaklia Tourist Shelter can accommodate up to eight people and has a cafeteria set up for visitors. Meals are not included. Since availability and shelter services may change, verify this information independently before making plans.

The available information highlights different options: the Tourist Shelter has a stated capacity of up to eight people, while hotels and guesthouses are listed as accommodation types in the coastal zone. If you are looking for a hotel in Kirovi, you can also decide whether the coastal facilities, the bridge, or the historic sites are most important for your stay.
