A fitness trail along the Nant Bruyant and an urban art walk reveal two different sides of La Motte-Servolex: wooded paths with cascades and art in the urban landscape. There are also hikes of varying lengths and difficulty levels, as well as Domaine Reinach and its architectural history.
Hiking through forest, wetlands and viewpoints
The Parcours santé is a 1,150-metre fitness trail starting at CLEM. It runs alongside the Nant Bruyant through a wooded setting with cascades. The exercise stations include platforms for abdominal exercises and push-ups, as well as a pull-up bar. The trail thus combines nature with designated exercise facilities; check current trail conditions before setting out.
The route to Marais de Pré Lombard is easy and close to town. It crosses the Plateau de Servolex, agricultural and wooded areas, and wetlands, and is open year-round. At the marsh, the route follows the Leysse; information panels introduce the river’s fish. From Chambéry city centre, you can reach the area on bus lines C or 1 towards De Gaulle, getting off at the “La Motte Centre” stop. Check the current Synchro network for changes before travelling.
The climb to Col de l’Épine is more strenuous: the hike runs mostly through the forest and along some steep paths. There are picnic areas at Pré-Puisat and at the pass. The route offers views of Lac du Bourget and the Bauges, Belledonne and Chartreuse mountain ranges. At Col de l’Épine, there is also a viewpoint with a landscape interpretation panel.
Three more routes offer a choice of shorter and longer distances. The Boucle des hameaux is 11 kilometres long, includes 360 metres of elevation gain and passes through the hamlet area of La Motte-Servolex. Les Hauts de Chamoux is an easy, 3.6-kilometre circular hike, mostly along forest paths, with views of Chambéry, the surrounding mountain ranges and Lac du Bourget. The 2-kilometre Boucle des Janons is a family-friendly trail in the Tremblay area.
The forest hike to Château Richard is very challenging and includes a section with metal ladders. You can avoid this section by following the directional signs. The route offers views of Mont Blanc, the Bauges, Lauzière, Belledonne and Chartreuse mountain ranges, Lac d’Aiguebelette and the Avant-Pays savoyard. Check current trail conditions before setting out, especially if you plan to take the ladder section or the steep climb to Col de l’Épine.
Architecture, heritage and art
Domaine Reinach covers 40 hectares in La Motte-Servolex, in Savoie. It lies at the foot of the Épine range and faces east towards Mont Revard and Nivolet. Most of the estate is listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments. Château Reinach was renovated from 1899 to 1903, when it was given a Neo-Louis XIII style using brick and stone.
Contemporary art is also part of the cultural offering. For 2025–2026, the cultural programme at La Conciergerie includes solo and group exhibitions of contemporary art, as well as guided visits; the exhibition programme may change. From Chambéry, La Conciergerie is accessible by bus line C. Before travelling, check current timetables and possible disruptions on the Synchro network for this connection.
The 45-minute urban art walk through La Motte-Servolex can be explored on foot, with a pushchair, by bicycle or on a skateboard. For 2025–2026, self-guided visits are possible at any time; guided visits are available by arrangement, and educational materials are available on request. You can explore the walk independently or arrange a guided visit to discover the urban art with a guide.
Le M.U.R. LMS uses a wall in La Motte-Servolex to showcase new, ephemeral works of urban art. As part of an annual programme, a new mural is added every quarter. The displays therefore bring together a specific location and a recurring change in the art on view.
At Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the square base on the first floor still retains defensive features. It is therefore considered a Romanesque remnant that has been altered several times over the years. This glimpse of the building’s history complements the more recent art and the architecture of Domaine Reinach with another historical aspect.
