Cultural offerings, local history and nature give Colombier-Saugnieu a range of different facets. There are also sports facilities and a walking trail with a garden at the start. You can plan your stay around the different options, depending on what you want to focus on.
Getting here and finding your way around
The Rhônexpress tram line terminates at the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry TGV station, which is in the municipality. The line connects the airport with Lyon city centre in less than 30 minutes. If this connection is important for your travel plans, check the current timetable before you set off. When looking for a hotel, it is also worth comparing its exact address with the places you plan to visit.
Culture to take part in and discover
The Maison des Arts et de la Culture has been open to the public since 20 November 2021 and offers more than 800 m² of shared space. The cultural venue is free and open to everyone. Its offerings include reading, cinema, theatre, video games and craft activities. The programme therefore encompasses both cultural events and opportunities to explore a range of activities.
The hall can be adapted to suit each event; it has 155 seats and is suitable for plays, one-man and one-woman shows, and concerts. The specific events on offer may vary. The Média-ludothèque complements these offerings: admission, use of the facilities and activities are free. Members can borrow books, magazines, board games, DVDs and video games. Borrowing is subject to membership conditions, which may change.
Local history at several points of interest
The old tower of the former Château de Colombier is a sight to see on a walk. The tower is associated with the Battle of Anthon in 1430. Those interested in the history of the three hamlets can find another source in the book “Dessine-moi un siècle”: the local association “3 hameaux 1 histoire” presents their history in it. The book is available at the town hall.
Gardens, ponds and nature
The Jardin des Senteurs is at the start of a walking trail. Its described features include aromatic plants, an insect hotel and a lizard spiral; garden features may change. In the municipality’s eastern agricultural and natural areas, a Type I ZNIEFF site covers an area recognised for its botanical and zoological importance. The banks and surrounding areas of the Étang des Portions are also part of the municipality’s pond landscapes, where semi-natural habitats are to be preserved.
The Étang du Raffour is a fishing spot in the Est Rhodanien. If you are planning a fishing trip, check the current conditions and access options beforehand. Nature attractions thus complement the walking trail and its garden features, while offering a different kind of outing.
Sports and a local place to shop
The sports complex includes two football pitches with a clubhouse, two tennis courts, pétanque courts and a skate park with ramps and a module for inline skates, BMX and scooters. The facilities may change. The City-Stade offers football, handball, volleyball and basketball. These two facilities cater to different sporting interests; which ones fit your travel plans depends on the activities you are looking for.
The Ferme des Evessay sells homemade tarts, bread and brioche. Products available may vary. Alongside the cultural and nature attractions, this venue adds a local shopping option. For your stay, you can first decide whether culture, local history, nature or sporting activities are your priority, then choose accommodation to suit your own plans.
