Chevrières combines protected architecture with a range of opportunities to get active. Highlights of a stay include the château and the church, as well as an alpaca trail, horse rides and hiking routes. The activities require different kinds of planning: a reservation is required for “A la découverte des Alpagas”, while the stated duration of the riding offer ranges from one hour to a full day. This gives you the chance to decide whether to focus on architectural history, a particular activity or a longer hike.

Château and Church: Different Perspectives on Architectural Heritage

The protected features of the Château de Chevrières include the façades and roofs of both towers, the entrance portal with its postern, and a medallion depicting a woman’s bust in the courtyard. The protected elements therefore range from the towers and their portal to a single detail in the courtyard. If you are interested in architecture, you can consider these different features as distinct aspects of the château.

The church of Chevrières offers a different perspective: it is designed in the Gothic-Renaissance style and listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments. Its design and listing offer two different ways to approach the building: its architectural classification and its formal heritage-protection status. If you would like to include cultural topics in your stay, you can keep both aspects in mind when visiting the church.

Planning an Alpaca Experience and Horse Rides

“A la découverte des Alpagas” combines an alpaca quiz trail, a visit afterwards and a demonstration of how fleece is processed into wool. The activity includes a circular route of approximately four kilometres; participation is by reservation only. The experience thus combines a walk with an introduction to wool processing. The approximate route length gives you a concrete point of reference for planning, while a reservation is required to take part.

At Balades à cheval et Médiation, Lisa offers rides on Irish Cob horses in small groups of no more than four to five riders. Beginners are welcome. Rides last from one hour to a full day, and a reservation is required. This wide range allows for different time commitments: you can choose a short ride or a full-day offer. A tasting of local products may take place after the ride. These include beer, wine or fruit juice, as well as cheese and cured meats made on the family farm.

Hiking Routes and Leisure Facility

The Rando des Trois Rivières is listed as 330 minutes, or five and a half hours. It is marked in yellow and white and bears the number 13. The Rando des Sans-Soucis and the Rando du Soleil Levant are also marked in yellow and white; their route numbers are I2 and I1, respectively. Since all three routes share the same colour markings, their names and numbers help distinguish them. Check the route details before setting off, as information about duration and markings may change.

The Chevrières leisure facility has children’s play equipment, boules courts, a tennis court and picnic tables. This offers a range of leisure options: play equipment, boules and tennis, as well as a place to take a break at a table. If you include the facility in your plans, check before your visit whether the amenities you need are available, as they may change.
