Chandon offers several ways to shape your stay: hiking trails through hedgerow countryside and along the Chandonnet, the history of the Croix Leigne Calvary, and leisure activities at the Aire de loisirs des Plans. First decide whether you want your stay to focus on the landscape, local history, or play and sports facilities.

Two hiking trails, different landscapes

The Les hauts de Chandon – PR 19 hike passes through hedgerow countryside over the hilltops, with open views. Autour du Chandonnet – PR24 runs along both banks of the Chandonnet. When choosing between the two routes, you can use the landscapes they offer as a guide: open views across the hedgerows, or a route along both riverbanks. In 2026, PR24 is open daily year-round and free to access. Check the information for your specific travel dates before your planned visit.

The history of Croix Leigne

The Croix Leigne Calvary was erected in 1878 by Benoîte Tacher, a woman from Chandon. This links the place’s history to a specific person and year. Next to the Calvary is a small chapel with a zinc campanile. This is an additional architectural detail right beside the Calvary, offering another perspective on the site alongside its historical significance.

Play and sports at the Aire de loisirs des Plans

The Aire de loisirs des Plans brings together several ways to stay active. The children’s play area has a ladder and a slide. There is also a five-station fitness trail, as well as facilities for football, pétanque and basketball. These options are quite different from the two hiking routes: the focus here is on a play area, a trail with activity stations and sports facilities in one leisure area. If you are planning your trip around different interests, you can consider this alongside the landscape and local history.

The Château de Tigny along the route

The PR24 leads up to the gates of the private 16th-century Château de Tigny, which is notable, among other things, for its half-timbered dovecote. The trail goes as far as the gates; the château itself is private and should not be planned as a building visitors can enter. The dovecote is a specific architectural feature of the château, adding another connection to the area’s architectural history.

Choose your stay based on your interests

The two routes differ in their landscapes and in how they follow the banks of the Chandonnet; the Calvary adds a historical point of interest, while the leisure area offers several ways to stay active. Then compare accommodations based on the criteria that matter for your overnight stay. This way, your search reflects the focus of your trip rather than reducing the place to a single activity.
