A stay in Lans-En-Vercors can be tailored to different interests: a historic walking trail runs between the village and its hamlets, the market takes place on two days each week, and Le Cairn offers cultural and event spaces. There are also outdoor activities with varying seasonal conditions.
Market and Local Produce
The Lans-En-Vercors market takes place on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the town hall square. Stalls offer Bleu du Vercors cheese, mountain honey, fruit, vegetables and fresh produce. If you would like to include a visit to the market in your plans, check the dates before you travel.
Another possible stop is Ferme du Pic Saint Michel. Visits to the goat, sheep and laying-hen farms are offered there, along with direct sales of goat’s and sheep’s cheese. Check the visit programme and sales arrangements in advance.
A Trail Between the Village and Its Hamlets
Le chemin du patrimoine is a marked 5.5-kilometre walking trail with nine educational information panels about the history of the municipality. It runs between the village and the hamlets of Lans-En-Vercors, partly following a scenic balcony above the Val de Lans. Local history and views across the valley come together along the same route. The trail is accessible by public transport; check current services before setting off.
The landscape can also be explored through specific places and elevations: the Bourne rises in a meadow at an altitude of 1,000 metres. Pic Saint-Michel stands 1,966 metres high and overlooks the Grenoble valley. The Espace naturel sensible des falaises du Moucherotte au pic Saint-Michel also includes the municipality of Lans-En-Vercors.
Culture and Activities for Different Days
Le Cairn includes an event hall, a media library, a cinema, exhibition spaces, a dojo, and rooms for dance, music and meetings. This provides a range of cultural and community activities in one place. If you would like to include culture in your travel plans alongside walking, you can make this a separate item on your itinerary.
ViaVercors is accessible to everyone year-round and involves no sporting difficulties. However, weather and maintenance can affect access. For a different, explicitly seasonal activity, the Montagnes de Lans ski area offers two marked uphill routes for ski touring outside the groomed slopes; availability and safety rules vary by season.
The Montagnes de Lans ski area is four kilometres from the village and can be reached by free shuttle buses or by car. As access conditions may change seasonally, check transport options in advance. Another route, Le Canyon, alternates between forest and open countryside, follows the cross-country ski trails and passes through the Les Allières site. Snow conditions vary by season.
At Grotte des Eymards, the caving experience includes abseiling and climbing the rope. Booking and operating conditions may change, so check before your visit. The activities therefore differ not only in character, but also in whether seasonal availability or current visiting conditions should be taken into account when planning.
