Corps offers several specific reasons to stay: the town invites you to explore its lanes, passageways and narrow paths; supervised swimming is available at Lac du Sautet in summer. Other highlights include the story of Mélanie Calvat, the Maison Salettina, a weekly market and routes with different itineraries. The landscape, local history, regional produce and outdoor activity each add their own distinctive touch.

Explore Corps through its lanes and passageways

The invitation to explore Corps through its lanes, passageways and narrow paths makes the town itself a focus of your stay. A walk around town can complement visits to individual attractions: it draws your attention not only to a particular destination, but also to the routes through the town. In this way, exploring Corps becomes a distinct highlight alongside the lake, culture, weekly market and routes.

Lac du Sautet: summer swimming and scenery

Lac du Sautet is designated as a natural heritage site in Corps. Its beach is covered in pale pebbles, with the sparkling surface of the lake and views of the distinctive silhouette of Obiou on the horizon. Supervised swimming is available at the beach in summer. If swimming is part of your plans, take this seasonal period into account. Swimming and scenery offer different highlights: swimming is available in summer, while the pebble beach and Obiou define the lake’s distinctive character.

For via ferrata, the Base nautique du Lac du Sautet WSA rents out equipment. Operating conditions may vary; check them in advance if you plan to rent equipment.

Local history and regional produce

The birthplace of Mélanie Calvat is open to visitors and offers insight into her life and her connection with the apparition of La Salette. Calvat was a shepherdess from La Salette and a witness to the apparition. The visit therefore connects a specific place in Corps with her life story and her connection to La Salette.

The Maison Salettina is an artisan distillery in Corps, in Matheysine (Isère). It was established in 1961 in the birthplace of Maximin Giraud. Free tours of the working distillery and tastings on site are offered. The range includes La Salettina in Jaune 40°, Verte 45° and Blanche 50° varieties, made with 21 alpine plants, as well as Génépi des Alpes IGP. The availability of individual products may vary.

The weekly market also adds a regular event to your plans: it takes place every Thursday morning and offers fruit and vegetables from local producers. If you would like to combine a market visit with your stay, plan around Thursday morning.

Two routes, different waypoints

The Route Napoléon riding trail runs from Corps to La Mure, following the Drac. Its first sections pass through the hills of Beaumont and offer panoramic views of the peaks of the Dévoluy. The Montée à La Salette route leaves Corps through the lanes, passes the Maison natale de Mélanie, crosses the road to the sanctuary and follows a path to the Gournier bridge. The routes differ in their itineraries: Route Napoléon highlights La Mure, the Drac and the panoramic views; the Montée à La Salette passes specific waypoints on its way to the bridge.
