Saint-Romain-De-Lerps combines a culinary tradition with sweeping panoramic views and several historic architectural landmarks. La Ronde des Fours puts the spotlight on old bread ovens and sampling together; at the Belvédère du Pic, altitude and panoramic views take centre stage. There are also traces of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture, as well as the classified ruins of Château de Durtail. These different highlights let you tailor your stay to your culinary, landscape or architectural interests.

Bread ovens as a reason to visit

The La Ronde des Fours event has been held since 1998. Visitors can see each of the three old bread ovens on foot or by car, and sample traditionally baked bread and homemade products. During the event, retired bakers bring the ovens back into operation and turn their attention to bread and fine pastries. This brings the visit and tasting together in one experience, while the work at the ovens connects visitors with local baking traditions.

Panoramic views and orientation at the Belvédère du Pic

The Belvédère du Pic is located at an altitude of 649 metres and offers 360-degree panoramic views across 13 départements, between the Rhône Valley and the foothills of Provence. These figures help put the views into perspective: 360 degrees describes the all-round panorama, while the 13 départements indicate its geographical reach. A less steep, concrete-paved ramp leads from the car park to the chapel. The themed trail around the site has been redesigned. The viewpoint, chapel and trail each offer a different focus for a visit.

Architecture from different periods

The Chapelle du Belvédère is a Romanesque chapel dating from the 10th century. Its preserved former choir reveals the ground plan of a larger church. Traces of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture survive at the Église Saint-Romain. The ruins of Château de Durtail are classified. Each site has a different historical point of interest: the chapel’s preserved choir forms part of the plan of a larger church; the Église Saint-Romain features three architectural periods; and the château’s ruins have classified status.
