Views, village history and recurring events give Spéracèdes different points of interest to consider when planning a trip. From the Croix de Spéracèdes, the view stretches across the Bay of Cannes; from the viewpoint, you can also see the Îles de Lérins, the Esterel mountains and Lac de Saint-Cassien. The village also has a south-facing hillside setting, historic buildings and several annual local events. Depending on whether you want to focus on the landscape, culture or a particular festival, different aspects of the village may take centre stage.

Landscape, Views and Getting There

Spéracèdes lies on a mountainside facing due south. Its protected natural landscape is typical of the Pre-Alps. One specific viewpoint is the Croix de Spéracèdes: from there, you can see the Bay of Cannes, as well as the Îles de Lérins, the Esterel mountains and Lac de Saint-Cassien. The hillside setting and orientation describe the village, while these named landmarks define the panorama from the Croix.

The approach is via a small, winding road that climbs the hill or descends from the village of Cabris. Check the route and your navigation before setting out. This lets you account for the local approach when planning, without assuming a particular travel time.

The Church, Archaeological Finds and Local History

The history of Église Saint-Casimir can be traced through several phases of construction: it was first built as a chapel in 1762, then enlarged in 1849. The bell tower was added in 1860, when the chapel also became a church. These dates therefore tell the story of a development spanning almost a century, rather than a single building project.

Finds from Grotte Ardisson offer another way to explore the past. Roman and local pottery fragments, a fibula and a coin of Emperor Tiberius, who died in AD 37, were found there. These archaeological finds sit alongside the church’s dated building history: two different topics for anyone interested in the village’s past.

Canal Belletrud is also part of the village’s history. It was built after the commune was established in 1911. The historical topic of water supply has its own background: it had previously been a persistent problem for Spéracèdes.

Olive Mill and Regional Products

Moulin à huile Baussy was operated by the Doussan family until 1956. Moulin Baussy is an olive mill and a producer and seller of regional products. During the production season, from November to March, Moulin à huile Baussy opens its doors to visitors. This seasonal period may be useful when planning; check whether visits are available on your chosen date. The availability of individual products may change.

Festivals, Tours and Culinary Events

A historical guided tour of the village is organised during the Saint Croix patronal festival. Check the current schedule before your visit. The Spéracèdes Festival Committee organises the Fête de la Nature every year. Artisans and producers from the region come together around a shared theme. The 2025 programme included a large Aïoli prepared by Charles Baussy and served at lunchtime. The food programme and participating producers may change from one edition to the next.

The Festival des « Heures musicales » and the Fête de la Croix also help mark the year: the festival takes place every June, and the Fête de la Croix every July. If an event date is important to your trip, check the specific dates for your chosen year. This lets you compare the June and July events with your travel plans without assuming a particular programme for a future edition.
