Les Epesses is a destination for travelers looking to combine Puy du Fou with a historic townscape and walks. The theme park is located in the municipality; other attractions include the Chapelle de la Colonne, trails through the town and alongside the waterways, and a food market. The options vary considerably: alongside large-scale shows, there is a one-hour historic walk and a circular route around the lake. If the park is your main focus, you can search specifically for a hotel in Les Epesses; choose other activities based on the time available and your interests.

Puy du Fou and Historical Spectacles

Puy du Fou is a theme park with a historical theme in Les Epesses. Its shows and adventures are aimed at children and adults. The main shows take visitors through different historical periods, combining large-scale special effects with spectacular staging. If you are mainly interested in historical stage experiences, you can plan your visit around these shows. Individual show programmes may change; check which performances are available on your travel dates.

Heritage and Walks

The Chapelle de la Colonne is located on the heights of the town center. A tall granite column topped with a statue of the Virgin Mary crowns the chapel. This offers a different scale of historical discovery from the park: rather than a spectacle, the focus here is a single architectural feature.

La Balade d’Alexis invites visitors to discover Les Epesses, its history and its heritage. The signposted walk takes one hour, is free of charge and is 2.4 kilometers long; it also features playful activities and a treasure hunt for children. The town trail combines exercise with local history and offers a different experience from the big shows. The Sentier des Trois Chênes also runs through Les Epesses; the Sentier des Meuniers leads to the main entrance of Puy du Fou. The two trails differ in that one runs through the town, while the other leads to the park entrance.

Water, Trails and Countryside

A circular trail about three kilometers long runs around the Étang de la Bretèche and is accessible year-round. There are also walking trails in the Bois sud du Défend by the Étang, with connections to neighboring municipalities. This offers two different options for walks: a clearly defined circular route and trails with connections to neighboring municipalities.

At Le Domaine, the Sèvre Nantaise borders Les Epesses and forms the boundary with Mallièvre. Walks are possible from Le Domaine.

Picnic tables are located around the Étang de l’Aujardière. If this amenity is important to your plans, check in advance whether it will be available during your visit.

Market and Seasonal Activities

A food market is held on Friday mornings at Place Monseigneur Bonneau. It sells fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and dairy products. The range may change, so check the market day before your trip if you plan to visit.

The La Bretèche municipal swimming pool is a seasonal facility. It has a heated 25-by-12-meter pool and a paddling pool supervised by a lifeguard. The seasonal program also includes water aerobics, swimming lessons and nighttime events. Opening hours and activities may change; check the latest times and offerings before your visit.
