Le Perrier lies in the heart of the Marais Breton Vendéen. Ninety percent of the municipality is located within a Natura 2000 zone. Visitors can also explore an exceptional variety of wildlife and plant life here. This gives a stay a clear focus on nature without overlooking what the town has to offer: in addition to paths and a landscaped garden, there is church art, a cultural programme and seasonal activities to choose from. When planning your visit, it is worth considering nature and culture together in light of your preferred dates.
Marshland scenery and trails
The Sentier des roseaux is a hiking trail in Le Perrier; the Boucle des Yoles is a cycling route. This gives you two different ways to explore: on foot or by bicycle. Another route for pedestrians and cyclists runs from the Sentier des Halles to the Centre culturel Le Marô. It passes the Jardin de la cure and the École du Marais. These landmarks provide concrete points of reference as you make your way through the town. Route conditions may change; check the latest conditions before setting out.
The Jardin des senteurs offers a walk of its own: a footpath and a wooden boardwalk run alongside a planted artificial watercourse. The combination of path, boardwalk and waterway gives the garden its character and makes it a different way to explore the local natural environment than a trip along the designated walking and cycling routes.
Church art and culture in town
The Église Saint Sauveur du Perrier brings together a turbulent local history and a distinctive collection of art. It was badly damaged during the Vendée Wars and remained reduced to its four walls until 1810, when reconstruction began. Eleven stained-glass windows are another notable part of its history: designed by Louis Mazetier, they were installed in 1943. Guided visits are offered in summer; visits can be arranged on request throughout the year. If you want to make the church a definite part of your plans, check the current summer dates or arrange a visit in advance.
Le Signal is housed in two former 19th-century long barns, typical of the Marais Breton Vendéen. In summer, the venue hosts activities such as carriage rides by Déambul; exhibitions and other events take place there year-round. This allows you to distinguish seasonal activities from the exhibitions and events held throughout the year.
The Espace culturel organises exhibitions, a literary prize, readings for children and gatherings. Its programme therefore offers a range of cultural events, rather than being limited to a single type of event. As dates for individual programme items may vary, it is worth checking the latest event schedule before your trip.
Yole boats, events and seasonal experiences
The Déambul Tour starts at Le Signal, continues on foot through the town to the Étier de la Taillée, and then carries on by yole. A yole boat trip can be followed by a carriage ride. The yole also recalls an earlier means of transport in the Marais: residents used it in winter, when their land was flooded. Check in advance whether the seasonal tour fits your travel dates and whether booking is required.
For the 2026 season, Les Escapades de Marius in Le Perrier offers outdoor escape games and tablet-based discovery tours for families or friends. These activities focus on playful challenges and digital discovery, setting them apart from a hike or bike ride.
La fĂŞte du terroir celebrates the arrival of autumn and seasonal flavours. In July and August, there are free concerts and performances on Tuesday evenings, as well as twilight walks on Friday evenings. This makes it easy to distinguish the seasonal highlights by timing: summer evenings bring events and walks, while the autumn festival focuses on the change of season and seasonal flavours. As annual details and dates may change, check the events against your travel dates.
