The Château de la Touche can be viewed from the outside year-round and free of charge: the grounds are freely accessible. In the village, the Château’s Logis-porche is considered La Limouzinière’s oldest architectural heritage site. For those interested in culture, a visit therefore combines a specific historic place with other traces of local history. Puzzle activities, vineyards, the tower of the former Moulin du Chaffault and a displayed press add different perspectives to this focus.
The Château and its heritage
On the heritage trail at the Château de la Touche, solve puzzles about local history by observing your surroundings and using the information boards along the heritage route. There are two fun options to choose from: one takes an hour, the other two hours. The different time frames clearly distinguish the trails by the time they require and help you fit this part of your visit into your day. The trail is accessible year-round. However, after recent rain, the paths may be less practical; check conditions before your visit if you plan to take this route.
Puzzle trails in different formats
The Parcours du Patrimoine de La Limouzinière offers another fun way to explore the local area. Through the Baludik app, it provides puzzles that the whole family can enjoy; the trail can also be completed in paper format. You can choose whether to use the puzzles digitally or on paper.
Vineyards and traces of history
East of the village centre, walks lead through the vineyards. The wine landscape changes with the seasons; observing these changes gives the walk a different focus from the puzzles on the heritage route. If you would like to combine a cultural discovery with observing the landscape, you can weigh up these interests when planning your stay. One approach centres on puzzles and information boards, the other on the seasonal changes in the vineyards. The time of year therefore also affects which impression of the vineyards stands out most.
At the entrance to the village, a tower belonging to the former Moulin du Chaffault can be seen among the vineyards. A Long-fût press is also on display near the former mill. It is a type of lever press that was commonly used in the region until the Second World War. The tower and the press draw attention to different aspects of the local heritage: a structure from the former mill and a historic pressing technique. Those interested in cultural history will therefore encounter not only a building here, but also a piece of equipment with a history of regional use.
Weighing up time and focus
The activities also involve different planning choices: for the heritage trail at the Château, you can choose between a duration of one or two hours; for the Parcours du Patrimoine, you can choose between the Baludik app and paper format. Your choice can therefore depend either on the time you have available or on how you would like to use the puzzles.
