Charlotte Corday and the Ferme du Ronceray
The Ferme du Ronceray is identified as Charlotte Corday’s birthplace; Corday spent her childhood there until the age of thirteen. A memorial plaque was installed at her birthplace in 1911 in her memory. The farm has been classified as a Monument historique since November 30, 1989. The plaque commemorates Corday; the Monument historique classification protects the farm.
Construction phases of the Église Saint-Pierre
The Église Saint-Pierre is partly medieval and includes a construction phase from the 18th century. Specifically, the western bay was added in 1751. The date 1751 applies to the western bay, not to the entire church. A bay is a defined section of a church interior—in other words, one part of the church.
Paintings and historic landscape
The protected cultural heritage includes a painting from 1778: “La confrérie des pères du Saint Sacrement à la procession aux Champeaux.” The painting depicts a procession of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Sacrament in Champeaux. It adds a religious subject to the architectural history of the Église Saint-Pierre.
The history of the Ferme du Ronceray also includes a landscape element. The former estate comprised 5 ha of pastureland and meadows with fruit trees; the plots were enclosed by living hedges.
Medieval theme and activities
Le Petit Cob offers a visit to its equestrian center, gîte, and campsite with a medieval theme. Activities include horseback riding, archery, pottery, and beekeeping. Alongside the history of the village and its buildings, there is a visit that features hands-on activities. Horseback rides, walks, and carriage rides are also offered. If you would like to include this offer in your plans, confirm the current booking arrangements before you travel. Individual activities may change; it is especially worth checking in advance if you have a particular activity in mind. Horseback riding appears in two forms: as part of the medieval-themed visit and as a separate horseback ride. Archery, pottery, and beekeeping are part of the visit program; walks and carriage rides are additional excursion options. This lets you choose between an activity as part of the themed visit and a separate outing. For a specific offer, confirm the current booking arrangements for your chosen activity before you travel.
