In Toutainville, options range from walking trails in a sensitive natural area to golf and water sports. To help plan your trip, it is useful to first decide what you want to focus on: would you like to explore on foot, discover points of interest along a route, or make a particular sport the main focus?

Walks and the natural area

The Site des Étangs area extends across Toutainville, Saint-Germain-Village and Pont-Audemer. It is a sensitive natural area managed with ecological considerations in mind. There are seven kilometres of signposted trails for walking. Its spread across three municipalities gives you a sense of the wider area; the signposted trails offer a specific starting point for a walk.

The long Sentier des Étangs passes by estates, the church and several springs in Toutainville. If you would also like to visit named points of interest on a walk, this trail offers a different kind of orientation from an activity described mainly by how you travel. The estates, church and springs give the route specific points of interest.

The Site des Étangs area, together with the Marais Vernier, is designated a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention. The area’s extent and this joint designation place the natural environment in a broader context beyond Toutainville.

The signposted Randonnée du Parc des Étangs route can be completed on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. It is therefore also an option if you would prefer not to do the route on foot. You can choose based on your preferred way of getting around, without treating the route as the same thing as the signposted walking trails.

Golf and water sports

Pont Au Golf is a rustic golf club on the Route des Étangs between Pont-Audemer and Toutainville. Its course is two kilometres long and passes through meadows and canals. The club is open to everyone and welcomes beginners and experienced players all year round. This makes it an appealing option if you are just starting out, while experienced players are also expressly catered for.

At the Grand Étang, the Club Nautique de Toutainville offers family-oriented activities: sailing, water skiing, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding. Here, the focus is on choosing a water sport. The activities listed are quite different from the walking and horse-riding options on the route; this lets you choose based on the type of activity you prefer during your stay.

There is a bicycle rack in Parc du Moulin—a practical detail for visitors getting around by bike.

Choosing a focus for your stay

For planning purposes, it helps to distinguish between experiences: nature trails are all about walks and discoveries along the Sentier des Étangs; the signposted route can also be completed by mountain bike or on horseback. Golf and the Club Nautique offer two other clearly defined sporting options. You can first decide which activity interests you most, then plan your accommodation around it.
