The beach, horse races and two walking routes with different focuses give Tourgéville several specific highlights for a stay.
Beach and Horses
Plage de Tourgéville lies at the northern end of Tourgéville, between Deauville and Bénerville-sur-Mer. A beach guide for 2023–2024 lists a lifeguard station, showers, toilets, parking, a children’s playground, a tourist information office and beach services there. The same description mentions horses galloping along Plage de Tourgéville in the morning and evening. As facilities may change, check which services are currently available before your visit.
Two Routes, Different Highlights
The “Tourgéville au pays du Cheval” route is described as an easy walk of about eleven kilometres, taking approximately three hours. It follows paths alongside the stud farms of Tourgéville, including the Le Vert Clos stud farm. The route thus combines a clearly defined equestrian theme with an approximate guide for planning your time.
The “Tourgéville au fil des chemins creux” route begins at Église Saint-Pierre de Tourgéville. Along the way, it passes buildings featuring timber framing, stone and wooden structures; at Chemin de la Perotte, it offers a viewpoint. The two routes therefore differ mainly in their described highlights: stud farms and a specified distance on one, the church, architectural styles and a viewpoint on the other.
Church and Architecture
Église Saint-Pierre de Tourgéville brings together several historical periods. Its choir dates from the 12th or 13th century, while the nave features elements of Flamboyant Gothic from the 14th and 15th centuries. Several restorations were carried out at the church in the late 19th century. The details therefore refer to different parts of the building and a later restoration phase, not to a single construction date.
Another architectural highlight is La Tour Carrée, also known as Villa Mors, at Avenue de la Terrasse and Rue Mors in Tourgéville. Its historicist design shows influences of Flamboyant Gothic. Its features include a square tower, a bow window, a loggia and a raised terrace. These details give the building its own distinctive character alongside the different historical periods represented by Église Saint-Pierre.
Race Days and Visitor Address
Hippodrome de Clairefontaine hosts race days featuring horse races in Tourgéville. The visitor address is Chemin de l’Hippodrome, 14800 Tourgéville. On race mornings, the Hippodrome opens its doors so visitors can explore the areas behind the scenes. Alongside the races, a look behind the scenes offers another reason to visit.
Further Orientation
Tourgéville Military Cemetery lies north of the village of Tourgeville, in the Mont Canisy area, along a small side road. It is about two kilometres from Trouville station. This approximate distance adds a specific point of reference to help you find your way.
