Église Saint-Pierre in Lasson has a layered architectural history: its principal construction phase dates to the 14th century; the first nave may date from the end of the pre-Romanesque period or the 11th century. Heritage protection at Château de Lasson and routes that start in Lasson or are associated with the commune broaden the perspective on architectural and local history.

Église Saint-Pierre and Château de Lasson

The polychrome limestone statue of Saint Peter dates from the 15th century; its protection status came much later: by ministerial decree of 15 December 2000, it was listed as a historic monument. The bell tower of Église Saint-Pierre was entered in the register of historic monuments by decree of 16 May 1927. After restoration was completed, the statue was placed in the bell tower behind protective grilles. The church’s architectural history, tower and statue can thus be viewed as distinct historical points of reference.

Two protection measures with different scopes are recorded for Château de Lasson. By decree of 17 July 1917, the château was classified as a historic monument, with the exception of the outbuilding located in the southwest square pavilion. The decree of 7 April 1975 concerns the listing of the façades and roofs of the farm building. The distinction in dates and scope is therefore clear: the specified exception is important for 1917, while the 1975 listing explicitly concerns the façades and roofs of the farm building.

Lasson in the Second World War

Lasson was among the villages in the new commune of Rots that were at the centre of the battle in June 1944. This connection adds the local history of the Second World War to the architectural history. Architecture and the events of June 1944 thus offer distinct historical perspectives on Lasson.

Hiking trails and road races

The CHEMINS DE LA MUE hiking trail starts in Lasson. Check its route details locally before setting out. The route description for Du Chiromme à la Mue, updated in February 2021, associates it with the commune of Lasson and follows villages with remarkable architecture as well as rural areas along the Chiromme and the Mue. These provide two distinct points of reference: CHEMINS DE LA MUE is noted as starting in Lasson, while Du Chiromme à la Mue is characterised by village architecture and rural areas along the two rivers. Also check the route and waymarking on site.

Les Foulées de la Mue offer a different opportunity to be active: these road races are organised by the Association La MUSE (MUe, Sport et Environnement). They are listed in the official calendar of the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme, are open to everyone interested and start at the Centre d’animation de Lasson–Rosel. If you are planning your stay around taking part, check the date and the details of the specific edition in advance; future arrangements may change.
