The Circuit des Fontaines walking route starts at the church car park. This makes the church a natural anchor when you want to include both culture and a walk in your plans. It has been protected as a Monument historique by a decree dated 27 July 1965. It was built in the 13th century by the Augustinian Canons Regular of the Order of Saint Augustine of Saint-Barbe-en-Auge; the western bell-tower porch was added in the 15th century. Three distinct reference points help put the building’s history in context: its construction date, the porch and its later protected status.

Circuit des Fontaines walking route

The Circuit des Fontaines passes a restored washhouse. The washhouse offers a different perspective from the church along the route: the focus here is on a place from everyday life in the past, rather than on architectural history. There is a six-kilometre version of the route via the TPA. This gives you a clear idea of its length when deciding whether it fits into your day’s plans. Check the route markers and conditions locally before setting out: both can change.

History across different sites

The former railway station is preserved on the D534. It recalls Bonneville-La-Louvet’s railway history. The former prison has been out of use since 1936 and represents a different historical use. Another trace of the past is the replica of the Lourdes Grotto, which was first inaugurated on 23 June 1895. The station, prison and grotto thus represent different chapters: railways, former prison use and religious history. When choosing what to visit, you can focus on a single theme rather than combining everything into one itinerary.

Landscape and getting there

The Calonne runs through the area of Bonneville-La-Louvet, adding a landscape feature to the picture of the commune. For planning purposes, you can treat the river and the Circuit des Fontaines as two different themes: the Calonne is part of the commune’s landscape, while the Circuit is a specific walking option. Bus Route 151 runs through Bonneville-La-Louvet. If you plan to use the bus to get there, check the timetable before travelling; the specific departure times will determine how you can arrange your journey.

Choose accommodation based on your travel interests

The answer gives your search a thematic direction and helps you tailor your choices to your personal travel plans. You do not need to follow a set visiting order; you can consider the historical themes as separate interests alongside the walk. If you want to combine both, decide for yourself which activity should shape your day and how much time you can fit into your trip.
