Le Bourg offers several distinct reasons to visit: the history and sculptural decoration of the Church of Saint-Saturnin du Bourg, the Château de la Rauze, a Sunday food and crafts market, and walks with different themes. CheMain Faisant connects Le Bourg with Anglars and is lined with works by local artists. The Promenade en Forêt is a family-friendly walk in the Bois Bordet that offers panoramic views and explores the Limargue landscape. These differences can help you plan your stay around your interests.

The Church and Château de la Rauze

Saint-Saturnin du Bourg was originally the chapel of a small Benedictine priory dependent on the Abbey of Saint Géraud d’Aurillac. Only the apse and transept of the church remain. The nave was probably destroyed during the Wars of Religion. The building’s history can also be read in its carved capitals: 26 in total, depicting interlacing patterns, palmettes, angels, birds or quadrupeds. They are arranged in the choir and at the crossing.

The Château de la Rauze consists of two wings arranged in an L shape, flanked by three square towers. Its main construction phases date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The facades and roofs are listed as historic monuments; the outbuildings are excluded. The listing was made under a decree dated 14 November 1979.

Walks with Different Themes

CheMain Faisant is a path between Le Bourg and Anglars. Along the way, works by local artists line the route; it also provides information about local agriculture. This makes the route a link between the two villages that also explores art and agricultural themes. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

The Promenade en Forêt has a different focus: this family-friendly walk in the Bois Bordet offers panoramic views while also exploring the Limargue landscape. When choosing between the walks, the art and agriculture along the route to Anglars may appeal—or you may prefer the panoramas and Limargue landscape on the Promenade en Forêt.

The Communal Forest

The commune of Le Bourg owns a 65-hectare communal forest managed by the Office National des Forêts. Corsican laricio pines make up the largest share, at 34 percent; oaks account for 23 percent, Douglas firs for 12 percent and sycamore maples for 9 percent. The percentages for tree composition may change as a result of forest management. The forest’s area, management and named tree species give you specific points of reference if you are interested in the landscape and how it is managed.

Sunday Market and Local Produce

A food and crafts market is held every Sunday morning on the church square in Le Bourg. It focuses on local and seasonal produce, as well as short supply chains. Individual vendors and products may vary. If the market is important to your travel plans, check the date and current arrangements in advance, as seasonal details may change.

Transport Services and Planning Your Stay

A demand-responsive transport service picks up passengers at home and is available for medical appointments, leisure activities, shopping and administrative errands. As transport arrangements may change, check the terms before travelling. A separate daily bus service to Figeac runs four times a day from Monday to Friday and stops in the village of Le Bourg. Here, too, it is advisable to check the timetable in advance.

The two services have different planning requirements: for the demand-responsive service, the reason for travel and home pick-up matter; for the daily bus service, the day of the week, departure times and stop in Le Bourg are key. Check the relevant dates and travel or transport conditions before finalising your stay.
