Saint-Gaudens brings together art venues, regional produce and paths by the water. When choosing your accommodation, you can make the focus of your stay your priority: markets and tastings, museums and performances, or water-based and outdoor activities. Saint-Gaudens is also accessible without a car, with TER Occitanie trains and LiO Occitanie buses. It’s best to check the latest timetables for your travel day.

Art, History and the Stage

The Arts&Figures Museum presents ceramics made in Saint-Gaudens in the 19th century, as well as paintings by André Rixens. It is located in the former town hall of Saint-Gaudens. The collection therefore sits within a building that once served a municipal function—a different cultural focus from the contemporary art of Chapelle Saint-Jacques.

La Chapelle Saint-Jacques holds the designation Centre d’art contemporain d’intérêt national and is an artistic laboratory. Its work includes programming, producing contemporary works, arts education and promoting visual arts in Comminges, Volvestre and Luchonnais in the south of Haute-Garonne. Les Haras regularly hosts theatre and other performances in each season’s programme, as well as companies in artistic residencies. The specific performances and residencies may change, so plan your cultural activities around the relevant season’s programme.

Water, Trails and Activity

Lac de Sède is fed by the Garonne. The lake is accessible on foot from the town centre via a safe path; the route is about four kilometres long. This approximate distance is a practical point to consider if you plan to include the lake in your stay. Saint-Gaudens also has the GR Via Garona and circular walking routes. For cycling, you can choose between a cycle path and circular cycling routes.

A path runs along the banks of the Garonne, whose riverbanks are classified as a Natura 2000 site. Saint-Gaudens lies like a beautiful viewing balcony in front of the mountain range. As well as walking and cycling, paths along the banks of the Garonne offer another way to connect with nature.

Swimming and Activities at the Complexe Aqualudique

The Complexe Aqualudique combines indoor and outdoor facilities, each with a 25-metre stainless-steel pool. Other features include a learning and activity pool, a whirlpool, four Pentagliss slides, a water slide, and a children’s area with a paddling pool and water fountains. Activities include swimming, aqua aerobics, water familiarisation, scuba diving and freediving. Facilities and access may change because of maintenance or construction work; the activity programme may also change. If you plan to use specific facilities or take part in particular activities, check the latest information before your visit.

Markets and Food

The local producers’ market is held on Saturday mornings at Place Jean-Jaurès. It offers fruit, vegetables, plants, cheese, baked goods and seasonal produce. Market arrangements may change, so check the latest information before making it a fixed part of your day.

La Halle Gourmande brings together five food retailers and invites you to meet them, learn about their expertise and sample their products. The market and the hall offer different ways to discover food: the market focuses on produce, including seasonal items, while the hall centres on meeting the retailers and tasting their products.
