When planning a visit to Entraygues-Sur-Truyère, it is worth considering the different time commitments: you can reach the Panorama du Calvaire after driving there and taking a short walk; one of the hiking options, by contrast, can be planned over five or six days. In between are a three-hour circular hike, cycling routes and river activities. This lets you choose activities according to how much time you would like to set aside.

Panoramic views, the old town and the bridge

The Panorama du Calvaire is located above the town. From there, you can see the confluence of the Lot and Truyère rivers, as well as Entraygues-Sur-Truyère. You can drive to the viewpoint via the Cambeyrac dam; from there, a short walk follows. Local conditions may vary.

The “Découverte de la vieille ville d’Entraygues” walking tour starts at the tourist office and follows the signposted stops numbered 1 to 21. Visitor guides are available in French, English, Spanish, German and Dutch. This means you can take the tour in whichever language suits you best.

Another notable landmark is the restored 13th-century Gothic bridge over the Truyère. It is open to pedestrians and cyclists and is used by the V86, the cycling route along the Lot Valley. The bridge visit and the cycling tour are therefore connected, but remain different ways to explore the area.

Hiking: a short loop or several days

The “Des coteaux à la vallée du Lot” circular hike starts and ends at Quai du Lot. It is 12.03 kilometres long, takes three hours and includes 494 metres of ascent. The route ranges in elevation from 238 to 459 metres and is rated moderate. Compared with a multi-day hike, it is a clearly shorter time commitment. Check trail conditions before setting out, as they may vary seasonally.

For a longer trip, the GR de Pays “Lo Camin d’Olt” starts in Entraygues. It comprises two circular routes through the Lot Valley and the Truyère gorges. The ONF and CDRP maintain the trails; the yellow and red markings should be checked on site. The circular routes can be completed in five or six days, with meals and accommodation. Compared with the loop starting at Quai du Lot, this option therefore calls for a considerably longer stay.

Cycling and river activities

The “Entre Gorges Lot et Truyère” FFC mountain biking area has a total of 170 kilometres of signposted mountain bike trails. These include eleven circular routes graded green, blue, red or black. Starting points are Golinhac, Entraygues, Couesques and Pons; the ONF and local club VCLT maintain the trails. The range of loops and starting points sets this offering apart from the single hiking route described by its distance and duration.

On the water, ASVOLT offers canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and rafting, depending on water levels. ASVOLT also rents out three river routes: a ten-kilometre route from Entraygues to Le Port de Vieillevie for ages eight and up; a ten-kilometre family route from Le Port de Vieillevie to Grand-Vabre for ages five and up; and a 20-kilometre sport route from Entraygues to Grand-Vabre for ages eight and up. Water levels and age limits distinguish the activities; check the relevant route when choosing what to do.

Culture, wine and industrial heritage

The Stoltz organ is also part of the cultural programme in Entraygues-Sur-Truyère. Since 2014, it has hosted around a hundred concerts. These have also included film concerts, featuring a silent film accompanied by an organist improvising. If you would like to plan a concert visit, check the current programme.

On the Entraygues–Le Fel wine route, guided tours of cellars and vineyards are offered for groups. These require an appointment. This makes a visit a separate planning option alongside hiking and cycling.

Near Entraygues, in Couesques, is the Espace EDF Truyère, housed in the former control room of the Couesques hydroelectric power station, built in 1950. The centre presents the industrial heritage of the Truyère and Lot rivers, as well as the relationship between water and energy. Visits are guided only and require advance booking. Plan this visit with a reservation; unlike the walking tour of the old town, a guided tour is required here.
