Two specific hikes start in Le Pla and offer different highlights: the Tour de Montferrant leads to panoramic views and traces of history; the trail to Étang du Laurenti is a marked out-and-back route through woodland. The two routes can be distinguished by their destination, length and route type.

Hiking and trail destinations

The 4 km Tour de Montferrant starts in Le Pla. The 2023–2024 winter edition describes it as family-friendly and highlights the easy access to panoramic views across the entire valley. Along the way, the route passes a former spinning mill and stone remains, including a stone wall and an engraving in the rock. Check trail markers and route conditions locally.

The route to Étang du Laurenti is 5.6 km long, marked and laid out as an out-and-back trail; it also starts in Le Pla and leads through woodland. Check trail conditions before setting out.

In terms of distance alone, the Tour de Montferrant is the shorter of the two routes. It combines valley panoramas with historical discoveries; the 5.6 km trail to the Étang passes through woodland and is laid out as a marked out-and-back route. This offers a choice between views and cultural heritage on the one hand, and the lake as a destination on the other.

The hike to the summit of Roc Blanc overlooks Étang du Laurenti. The lake is therefore both the destination of an out-and-back route and a viewpoint along the way to the summit. At regional level, the Le Tour des villages du Donezan route connects seven villages in Donezan; the loop can be started in any of these seven places. The option to start in any of these places distinguishes the regional route from the two hikes that start in Le Pla.

Culture on the edge of the village

Le Pla’s war memorial is near the former village school, at the edge of the village on the road to Quérigut. Alongside the historical discoveries on the Tour de Montferrant, it is another clearly located point of historical interest in the village.

Local products and visits

There is also a specific place in Le Pla to find local products: Les Cochonneries de Resplandy offers fresh meat from black pigs as well as charcuterie. The range and visitor arrangements may change; check current options before visiting. A seasonal announcement for 2026 mentions a 1.5-hour farm tour at Les Cochonneries de Resplandy. The seasonal announcement for 2026 describes the programme for the 1.5-hour farm tour: it includes a walk through the free-range areas, an encounter with the black pigs, an introduction to organic farming, animal welfare and farming know-how, as well as a tasting of artisan-made products such as saucisson, coppa, pâté and grilled meat. As the offer is announced seasonally, check current dates before making plans.
