Plage de La Chassagne, a variety of circular trails and Romanesque architectural details give a stay in Videix several clear focal points. For planning, it helps to distinguish between a few simple options: would you like to spend time by the water, plan a walk or mountain bike ride, or choose a longer, explicitly challenging cycling tour? Starting points, route lengths and types of activity help you keep the outings distinct.

Lakeside and beach

Plage de La Chassagne is on a large lake formed behind the Lavaud dam, below the source of the Charente. The beach and shores are suitable for walking and swimming. Swimming conditions and operating arrangements may vary by season, so if you are planning a swim, it is worth checking the conditions on site. There is also a children's playground at the beach. If it is important to your plans, check the facility's current status before visiting, as visitor facilities can change.

Circular trails and cycling routes

The Circuit des Serves is a 14.7-kilometre circular route starting in Videix that can be done on foot or by mountain bike. It starts at Plage de La Chassagne, so you can combine the route with time by the lake. By contrast, the Rochechouart–Videix circular cycling route covers 38.4 kilometres, is challenging and starts in Rochechouart. It follows the course of the Charente to the lake at Videix. The routes therefore differ in length, mode of travel and starting point. As route information may be updated, it is advisable to check the current route before setting off.

Churches and architectural details

The Church of Sainte Marie Madeleine dates from the 13th century and features characteristics of Limousin Romanesque architecture as well as frescoes. It is listed in the inventory of historic monuments. Its construction date, style and frescoes offer specific points of interest if you would like to include architecture in your trip alongside the trails.

The Circuit des rives de la Charente also has an architectural point of interest: a church on the route was built at the end of the 12th century and has a Limousin-style portal.

The washhouse and public fountain in Videix are made of meteorite stone, known as impactite, and attract walkers. So, alongside the churches, there are two public places notable for their distinctive building material.

Les Champs is considered a typical village built of breccia. The buildings described thus showcase two different materials: meteorite stone at the washhouse and fountain, and breccia at Les Champs.

Tailor your stay to your plans

Videix is in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park. If having a fixed base for your excursions is important, take these different starting points into account when choosing your accommodation. This lets you match your overnight location to your planned focus without treating the two circular routes as if they started from the same place.
