Bompas offers a variety of reasons to visit: farm animals take centre stage at Espace Enchanté, while Site Pams brings together the history of a former estate and its present-day role as a park and cultural venue. The ancient Via Domitia is also part of the history of the municipal area. Wildlife viewing, green spaces and culture appeal to different interests.
Wildlife viewing and activities at Espace Enchanté
Espace Enchanté is an animal park and educational farm in the Parc des Sports et des Loisirs. Visitors can see farm animals there free of charge: donkeys, ponies, llamas, cows, goats, sheep, chickens, rabbits and various bird species. If you would like to see farm animals during your trip, the park offers more than just the chance to see a single species.
The additional activities, which are chargeable, are separate from free animal viewing. On Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays, as well as during school holidays and on public holidays, pony rides, carousel rides, duck fishing and animal feed are available to buy in the afternoons. These days and afternoons are a useful guide for planning; schedules and fees may vary seasonally. So check the current offer before visiting if you plan to take part in one of these activities.
Barbecue areas and picnic tables
Barbecue areas with picnic tables can be rented at the Parc des Sports et des Loisirs. This is another way to enjoy your time in the park, in addition to visiting the farm and taking part in the activities on offer there. If you would like to use a barbecue area, check its availability before your visit. This helps distinguish a planned use of the facility from a visit focused on wildlife viewing.
Site Pams: a former country estate in the heart of the town
Site Pams is located in the heart of the town, on the grounds of a former 19th-century agricultural estate. The site, which covers more than 13,000 m², once included orchards, vineyards and an estate. Today it has been redeveloped as an open, lively and community-oriented space. Its former agricultural use and its present-day role give the site two distinct periods in time: on the one hand, the history of the estate; on the other, its current role as a landscaped place for the community.
Parc Pams offers a peaceful natural setting that is well suited to walks, gatherings and events. This offers a different kind of experience from Espace Enchanté: the park provides space for paths and community activities, while the farm focuses on farm animals and watching them.
Culture and history as further reasons to visit
The open-air theatre at Site Pams, integrated into the landscape, hosts performances, concerts and local events in an atmosphere open to everyone. If you would like to include cultural events in your trip, check the current dates for your planned travel period: the programme changes over time. The venue adds a cultural dimension to the parkland, but this does not mean there is a fixed programme for every visit.
Another historical connection is the ancient Via Domitia, which ran through the municipal area of Bompas. It adds a link to antiquity to the history of the former estate. These are different points of interest for planning a trip: the open-air theatre is associated with performances and concerts, while the Via Domitia represents a historic route through Bompas. Together with the opportunities for wildlife viewing and enjoying the parkland, they present a picture of the area that encompasses culture, nature and history.
