Pérols offers several distinct starting points for a stay: the Port de plaisance, used primarily as a marina; nature around the Étangs; and cultural venues with distinctive architectural histories. If you’re looking for accommodation, you can start by deciding what matters most to you: should your plans focus on activity, seasonal events, nature, or culture? The following places illustrate the differences.

Harbor and Nature

The Port de plaisance de Pérols has direct access to the sea. Today, the harbor is used mainly as a marina, but it continues to welcome fishermen all year round. If you plan to visit the harbor, it’s a good idea to check the current local conditions.

The Étang de l’Or offers a different perspective: the body of water is part of the Natura 2000 network and includes 14 habitats of community interest and 43 bird species. The area plays an important role in their breeding, wintering, and feeding. Thus, the harbor, as a place for recreational boating, and the Étang de l’Or, as an ecological focal point, cater to different interests.

Activity and Recreation

The 0.9 km Parcours de santé du Mas de Pérols runs along the shore of the Étang de Pérols and has no challenging inclines. The fitness trail includes an educational flora and fauna trail along the shore and an insect trail. There is also exercise equipment, two children’s play areas, and two jogging loops of 500 and 1,000 meters, respectively. The 0.9 km refers to the fitness trail; the two jogging loops have their own distances. These details help distinguish the different activity options.

Horse riding is permitted on the Sentier des Tamaris in the Étang du Méjean / Étang de Pérols area. Local conditions apply; check on site for any restrictions. The Les Arènes recreation area offers seven play features, including playhouses and other playful activities, and is located between the arenas and the pétanque court. Unlike the fitness trail, the focus here is on play, while the trail brings together exercise equipment, jogging loops, and nature paths.

Cultural Venues with Distinctive Architectural Histories

The Maison des Arts Max Castan is housed in a former water tower converted into an arts venue. It hosts exhibitions and the École Municipale de Musique (EMM). The Médiathèque Jean Giono is located in the center of Pérols in a former wine cellar and a former hosiery factory. The two venues have different architectural histories: one occupies a repurposed water tower, while the other’s story is shaped by two former commercial uses of the building.

Wednesday Evenings in Summer

The Mercredis terroir showcase local producers and craftspeople. They take place every Wednesday evening in July and August. As this is a recurring seasonal event, check the specific dates and program before your trip.
