Villa Savoye, a collegiate church with construction phases spanning several centuries, and two parks with distinct characteristics give a stay in Poissy a clear cultural and scenic focus. The city also has museums covering subjects from local history to toys. When choosing the city, you can therefore be guided by specific interests: architecture, collections, green spaces or a marked walking route.

Villa Savoye: Architecture and Puzzle Book

At Villa Savoye, visitors can explore the monument freely. Families can pick up a free puzzle book at the entrance for children aged 8 to 14. The puzzles are spread across 12 rooms. Visitor offerings may change; check before your trip.

Getting to Villa Savoye

From Poissy station, Villa Savoye can be reached by RER Line A or Transilien Line J, followed by bus 6503. As transport options may change, it is a good idea to check the route before setting off.

Maison de Fer: Art and Local History

Since 2026, the Maison de Fer in Poissy has housed the Galerie d’Art et d’Histoire. Around 50 works from the collections of the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire are displayed there. The exhibition presents the city’s history across five themes: medieval Poissy; a city shaped by agriculture and commerce; the Seine as a major transport route; an area of art and recreation; and industrial and modern Poissy. This brings different chapters of the city’s history together rather than focusing on just one period. The exhibition may evolve; check the current visitor information before your visit.

The Maison de Fer also offers an architectural and cultural tour of Poissy’s most important monuments. It traces the city’s history from the Middle Ages to the present day. The tour thus complements the gallery’s thematic presentation with a look at the city’s monuments.

Collégiale Notre-Dame and Historical Layers

The main construction phases of the Collégiale Notre-Dame span the 11th, 12th, 14th and 19th centuries. This sequence shows how its architectural history unfolded over several centuries. The collegiate church has been protected as a historic monument since 1840, when it was included on the 1840 list. Its collection also includes a significant number of sculptures, some of which date from the 14th century. The architectural history and sculptures offer different perspectives on the same building.

Two Parks with Different Features

The ten-hectare Parc Meissonier is an English-style park. Its features include a pond, a rose garden and dozens of plant species. Its history includes several uses and associations: it was the park of a royal monastery, a garden admired by poets, agricultural land and a recreational estate. The current description of the park thus combines specific garden features with its varied historical role.

La Charmille covers 16 hectares on the edge of the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and along the southeastern boundary of the commune. It is larger in area than Parc Meissonier. Its facilities include a cross-country running course and a roller-skating and inline-skating track. These features distinguish La Charmille from Parc Meissonier, whose description focuses mainly on its garden setting, pond, rose garden and variety of plants.

Walking Route and Local Product

The “Poissy, cité natale de Saint Louis” walking route is 5.7 kilometers long and takes about two hours. This approximate time estimate can help you plan how much time to set aside, but does not replace checking conditions on site: the brochure dates from 2018. Check the route and signage before setting off.

Another local specialty is the “Noyau de Poissy” liqueur. It is made from apricot kernels.

Musée du Jouet: From Antiquity to the 2000s

The collection of the Musée du Jouet de Poissy comprises more than 600 objects. Seven percent of them are on display. The collection includes games and toys dating from Antiquity to the 2000s. As visitor information and temporary displays may change, check for updates before your visit.
