Protected Île Nancy, exhibitions and river heritage offer different ways to explore Andrésy. You can shape your stay around the landscape, culture or activities on the water: paths on the island invite you to stroll, while art and architectural history offer other points of interest.

Île Nancy and walking routes

Île Nancy is three kilometres long and lies in a bend of the Seine. From the Julien-Green pontoon, you can reach it by a free boat operated exclusively by the town of Andrésy. The boat service is seasonal. Trees line the walking paths on the island, and educational information panels accompany the way. A walk therefore also offers insights shared on site.

Beyond the island, Andrésy offers five municipal walking routes for exploring its natural, architectural, historical and river heritage. Their themes therefore extend beyond a single landscape experience. If you choose a route, check the latest route information, as details may change.

There is also a designated contact point for cycle tourism: Andrésy carries the Accueil Vélo label, and the designated welcome point is at the Point Info Tourisme. Check before travelling whether the service is currently available.

Art and architectural history

Sculptures en l’Île is a free annual outdoor contemporary art exhibition in Andrésy. If you want to plan your trip around this event, check the specific dates. The Galerie des Passions at the entrance to Espace Julien-Green offers a different kind of exhibition programme, running year-round. Espace Julien-Green also hosts year-round public exhibitions of paintings, photographs and sculptures in its display windows.

Église Saint-Germain offers another way to explore the history of the town. Its main construction phases span the 13th century to the first half of the 16th century. The church has been classified as a Monument Historique since 25 April 1949. Its long construction history and dated protection status provide a clear point of reference if you are interested in historic architecture.

The Chalet de Denouval is now home to the Centre Yvelinois des Arts de la Marionnette (CYAM). CYAM offers puppet theatre performances, practical arts workshops, professional development courses, and cultural activities in schools or with local organisations. Its programme ranges from performances to artistic practice and cultural work with organisations.

River heritage and ways to shape your stay

The Barrage-Écluse d’Andrésy is a piece of river heritage dating from the 1950s; two locks were added in the 1970s. The preserved right arm of the Seine at the structure serves as a leisure area, with rowing clubs, water sports areas and moorings for sports and leisure boats. Here, recreation on the water sits alongside the history of the structure.

The attractions vary considerably in their schedules: the Galerie des Passions has exhibitions year-round, Sculptures en l’Île takes place annually, and the boat service to Île Nancy is seasonal. If the island crossing or the outdoor exhibition is to be a highlight of your stay, take the seasonal service or event dates into account when planning. This lets you choose Andrésy according to your interests without assuming that all experiences are available at the same time of year.
